carlsson
Here's the summary for Week 05, running from January 30 - February 5. We logged 3773 minutes of eligible play, playing 90 games on a total of 16 systems. Top 10: 1. Barnstorming (Atari 2600) - 630 min. 2. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PlayStation) - 449 min. (#2) 3. Asteroids (Atari 7800) - 270 min. 4. Phantasie (Commodore 64) - 230 min. (#4) 5. Tatsujin Ou (Arcade) - 207 min. 6. Slap Fight / Slap Fight MD (Genesis) - 125 min. (#8) 7. Out Zone (Arcade) - 91 min. 8. Ms. Pac-Man (Tengen) (NES/Famicom) - 80 min. (#5) 9. Hoops (NES/Famicom) - 72 min. (#10) 10. Solar Fox (Atari 2600) - 69 min. (#7) Pre-NES top 10: 1. Barnstorming (Atari 2600) - 630 min. 2. Asteroids (Atari 7800) - 270 min. 3. Phantasie (Commodore 64) - 230 min. (PN#2) 4. Solar Fox (Atari 2600) - 69 min. (PN#3) 5. Keystone Kapers (Atari 8-bit) - 65 min. 6. Ataritris (Atari 8-bit) - 50 min. 6. River Raid (Intellivision) - 50 min. 8. Jumpman (Commodore 64) - 45 min. 9. Buzz Bombers (Intellivision) - 35 min. 9. Marauder (Atari 8-bit) - 35 min. 9. Tron: Deadly Discs (Intellivision) - 35 min. Top 10 systems: 1. Atari 2600 (15 games) - 810 min. (#1) 2. Arcade (14 games) - 565 min. (#7) 3. PlayStation (1 game) - 449 min. (#2) 4. Commodore 64 (9 games) - 400 min. (#3) 5. NES/Famicom (8 games) - 291 min. (#4) 6. Atari 7800 (1 game) - 270 min. 7. Genesis (8 games) - 220 min. (#6) 8. Atari 8-bit (7 games) - 198 min. (#8) 9. Intellivision (5 games) - 160 min. 10. Handheld/Tabletop (6 games) - 110 min. Once again, the Atari 2600 HSC impacts the tracker as Barnstorming storms into first place, with Castlevania SotN still in second place. Five versions of Ms. Pac-Man and one Pac-Man were played, but only Tengen's NES version makes an impact on the top lists. Systems wise, the Atari 2600 again has both most minutes and number of different games. The Commodore 128 makes it debut on the tracker, likely because all other games played have been C64 titles (and historically there were very few C128 only games). Tatsujin Ou (Arcade) becomes member #519 in the 1000 Minute Club with a total of 1200 minutes. TheGameCollector
This week I played: Final Fantasy VII for Playstation: 237 minutes Progress: After a 2 week break of no gaming while working on another project, I made it from the exit of Midgar over to the Junon area, recruited Yuffie and defended the condor nest once. I'm not quite ready to take on the dragon at Junon's beach quite yet so I figure grinding for gil for a while to fund more battles at the condor nest would be good timing to gain a few more character levels and AP for materia to level up.
Steven Pendleton
Arcade only this time once again. Arcade Batsugun - 39 Dogyuun!! (Japan) - 2 Lei Shen Zhuan Thunder Deity Biography - 5 ^ I am not entirely sure what this is, but it has nothing to do with thunder deities or biographies. It's either a ROM hack of Battle Garegga or a bootleg of Battle Garegga. Either way, it plays rather differently from Garegga in a super strange fashion. Out Zone - 79 Raiden (Japan) - 88 Raiden (International) - 22 Tatsujin Ou - 45 Zero Team (early revision) - 4 Zero Team (late revision) - 11 I think these might actually be the Japanese version and the international version, respectively, but on Arcade Archives they are labeled as early and late version, respectively, so that's how I'm doing it.

Kurt_Woloch
I haven't actually played anything this week, but there is one game I played last Sunday I forgot... MSX: Ghosts 'n' Goblins - 3 min. Last Sunday I also tried the MSX version of Ghosts 'n' Goblins, but didn't play it for long. I had difficulties with the fact that jumping and shooting is mapped to two different buttons, so I didn't get very far and gave up quickly. The MSX version is, however, no great advancement over the Spectrum version anyway.

+wongojack
DOS Master of Orion 93 I'm continuing a cycle where I'm playing games <120mb from my Steam library, so I gave the DOS version of Master of Orion a shot. I have played this game before, but I've spent much more time in its cousin "Master of Magic." Anyway, it was nice to play a 4x game that really didn't require much of a tutorial. I didn't finish my introductory game, but I could have. Great series.

Skippy B. Coyote
For the first time in awhile I actually did quite a bit of retro gaming this past week! I got a 1 week free trial of Nintendo Switch Online and decided to put it to use playing through Star Fox and then Super Metroid! I was getting pretty close to the end of Super Metroid when I realized that I wasn't far off from collecting 100% of the items in the game, which is something I had never done before, so I ended up playing a couple hours more and searching around until I had found every item and achieved 100% completion in Super Metroid for the first time ever! Game Boy Metroid II: Samus Returns - 45 minutes Super Nintendo Star Fox - 99 minutes Super Castlevania IV - 11 minutes Super Metroid - 926 minutes

Should I keep at after just doing 35 minutes, or should I come back to it some other time? Just wondering as I haven't checked out any other Metroid game, except Metroid Pinball. Appreciate any recommendations.

You would do yourself a favor to make that the first Metroid game you've played since '87. If you like Metroid-style games, it is a Legendary 10/10 or 5/5. Whatever your scale, it is right at the top. 3
Eltigro
Only one retro game for me this week.... Playstation Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (353 min) - Still working on that achievement to get every rare drop from every monster. I've got a list going and have about 22 more monsters to farm. I'll get there. It'll just take some persistence.
