atarigamer
Lets see......equipment (no check), car with enough gas (no check), enough food (no check), enough Atari fans to help (check). ET Carts $2, ET carts Sealled $5, the look on Atari fans face when they un-cover 5 million ET carts.....priceless. There are some thing money can't buy.....for everything else....there's AtariCard. moycon
Actually I'd bet people would pay good $$$ for a chunk of concrete with an E.T. cart stickin out of it.... Just because the story is so imfamous. You'd have to do it right tho.... If you brought back 1 million E.T. carts that somehow survived the bull-dozer and still worked the price scheme would be more like. E.T cart .01 E.T Sealed 5.
atari70s
here we go: Pickup truck $2500, gas & tolls both ways $55, Jackhammer Rental $125, Police Bail after being arrested $84, shovels to dig up the sand $35 , Getting a hurniea after attempting to push the crate of cement ( which has 5 million atari carts ) into the back of the pickup PRICELESS. For Somethings money can't buy, for everything else there's Atari Card! Atari Card is excepted everywhere you see the atari logo and is excepted by thousands of Atari Collectors around the world. Bob Bytchin
I live about 65 miles away from Alamogordo...and drive up to the White Sands area, and as far as Roswell several times a year. I sure would love to know the general area of this landfill because I could make several trips a year looking for goodies.
moycon
Someone needs to start a web page and keep a journal. Day One: Found site of old landfill, Its since been covered over with dirt and there's no sign pointing to where the carts are. Plotting course of action. Day Two: Started digging randomly. Day Three: Dug all day and struck something hard about 10 feet down!! Re-grouped everyone and will continue digging tommorow. Day Four: The hard thing we struck yesterday was an old dryer. Continued random digging. Day Twelve: Found so far: 230 Coke cans 128 LP's 98 Rubix Cubes 67 Assorted mutilated and burned GI Joe and Star Wars Figures. 35 broken Master of the Universe figures. 27 Egg Shells 1 discarded plastic Christmas Tree 1 Bag of used dipers 1 MX Missle

atarigamer
Does anyone know?
moycon
Yes I do. I know the guy who was in charge of the Burying Atari games in the Desert department at Atari in the early 80's. Luckily he kept a day play planner and he told me that they buried 1,789,273 Combats on March 11, 1982
atarigamer
Do you still have contacts with him?
moycon
Heheh I can see they need to make a sarcastic graemlin. No atarigamer I made that up. I seriously doubt even if they did have a Burying Atari games in the Desert department at Atari that the person in charge would remember. That was 15 years ago and the company as it was is no longer around. But...Who knows maybe someone does know. Maybe.
atarigamer
Does anyone know the name of the Landfill?
moycon
*sigh* It looks like that crappy Raiders thread beat out the E.T. thread. Funny thing is both games were written by the same guy and both games didn't live up to Atari's expectations when released. There was an old magazine from the 80's, Videogames I think was the one that had it. They were doing an awards article or something. And they mentioned both ET and Raiders, The award they gave Scott had something to do with the codeing it was the way they were both done but then they ended it with that it didnt matter because neither title did well. I'll try and find the article if I still have that magazine.
StanJr
Yeah, but lets be fair, the Raiders thread beat this one anyway, because of the number of real, honest quality posts, not just people bumping it up to add extra posts. I'd like to see that article.
