fibrewire
I bid a few minutes after the auction showed up. Several days later, I check the listing, and "There Are Also Cracks In the Back Nothing That Effects Operation" magically shows up in the listing. Cracked, but does not effect operation - must only be important to me & the Japanese...

There is no way for anyone reading your post to know the description had changed after you had already placed a bid. I could only look at what was in the current description that might change your mind. I think it should mention prominently on the page when an items description has been edited/updated, perhaps this is displayed for those who had already placed a bid. +wood_jl
This "transit tested" logo. I'll never forget it. The first time I remember seeing it was in the inner box (inside that fragile posterboard exterior we pay so much for) of my brand-new-with-48K-no Atari 800. I worked - for a number of years - at UPS and FedEx - and I used to see that exact logo on other boxes. Then I'd wonder into an addled daydream.....interrupted by the shout of a co-worker "HEY MAN" which would snap me out of old Atari 800 fantasy land.... +wood_jl
That is silly money... I wouldn't pay that at all... Tough to judge. You have 2 or 3 already, so you probably wouldn't. I have none (keyboarded-400s) and I wouldn't. But it's not easy to put a price on this stuff. I'm assuming this guy doesn't eat shit out of a gutwagon to live like I do, so if he can afford it, good for 'im! Doesn't help the fact that Orpheus has a collection I'm *extremely* jealous for, though. :)

I know another will come along, Eventually, It's the keyboard that made the so attractive, As that is rare since It was made only by one of two 3rd party companies and I don't think those exist anywhere at all anymore, But as to a 400 w/48K? I know where one is now for $49.99, Plus shipping of $26.62 to Me, But It has the stock membrane keyboard and yep, I'm nearly broke once again and right now is just not the right time, After October or November, Sure, Just not now. I'd have to raise $100 just to buy that one and I'd rather not as I'd rather have one with a full stroke keyboard and only two types were ever made, the one that was pictured above or one that I had that more closely matches the original keyboard positions of the keys. But at least I know how high It could go and then prepare accordingly, Once I'm properly prepped, I'm not an easy bidder to beat, As I can make It very expensive for someone else, Just to achieve My objective. Of course this 400 comes w/a psu brick, all connecting accessories(cables?) and an XC12 cassette recorder(only the box is shown) with Programming Cassettes and no Manual, He says the manual can be downloaded, that would be interesting.
