a TED talk
I worked all weekend on The Golden Q Quest. I made a little program where I can check the coordinates of the rooms. I put the grid data in and move the dot around and it tells the x and y data of the dot so I can use that info accordingly. Using that, I made the second floor of the pyramid. I think I finally found the problem of why it wasn't exiting room 2 correctly. I think it was because I had got the coordinates wrong. So I corrected it and it seems to work okay now.
So I put in the second level. I think it's much harder than the first. I'm wondering if I should make it easier. The second ghost moves randomly, but he sometimes gets in the way. I also put in new treasures to get: a turquoise t, an emerald e and a diamond d. I thought for a bit about making the diamond white, but the ghosts are white, so I decided to make it gray instead. I think I have everything good for the second bank. I have about 1,900 bytes left in bank 1 (floor 2), so I don't think I can put in a third ghost. I think two ghosts though are plenty since floor 2 is really hard as it is.
So what's next is to make floors 3 and 4. And design some more treasures for Illinois Smith (the guy) to get. I thought about naming him Joseph George (an allusion to Josue), but I ultimately decided against it. I know the game SHOULD be called "The Quest for the Golden Q" but characters and sprites were limited.
