I ventured out.

Not in a car or anything. We heard a loud noise earlier so I went to go check it out. I saw nothing that would cause a loud noise to happen. Yesterday the snow on the ground was hard as rock. This morning I was actually able to walk around on it. It felt like walking on snow. I woke up at four a.m. and it was still below freezing outside. Here it is three hours later and it's 42 degrees. The thawing has begun. The sun is about to rise.

If it decides to rain, everything else to the end of the week should be just rain since it's supposed to stay above freezing. Now that we got through the ice storm we had yesterday, now the trick is to thaw out without limbs falling and losing power that way. There's about an inch or two of stuff on the ground. I don't know if it's snow or ice or what, but it'll probably take a while for it to melt.

While I was outside I saw a newspaper. It was covered in ice. It was in a plastic bag (they do that in the rainy season here.) So I picked it up. When I got back in, I opened it up. The date on it was Tuesday. Odd that a paper would come yesterday but not today. Or perhaps it came today but delivered yesterday's paper. The schools are closed today here. The warmer weather was slower to come than anticipated. They did have a 1-hour delay. But since it's just now above 40 in the last two hours or so, nope. That isn't gonna happen.
