What have you actually PLAYED? Weekly Top Ten for 2009

After seeing sandmountainslim's mention of Asteroids Arcade(2600) I've been playing this one. Played Berserk for 1 hour. And about 1 min and 34 seconds of Adventure (BB difficulty mode 1). Programmed Batari Basic Hummingbird in 3 hours.

PS2 Rune Viking Warlord - 2 hours

So how long did you play Asteroids Arcade?

Asteroids Arcade 3 1/2 hours, why wasn't this the official game? Sure beats the heck out of the original

Sorry that I didn't answer earlier... the ' sign is supposed to be minutes, so that's 5 minutes for Dragster last week. I usually abbreviate "minutes" this way in my internal documents... " would be seconds then, and hours would be abbreviated "h".

Anyway, here are my times for this week. Unfortunately, I've got nothing important to report since due to the warm weather all week, I went swimming instead of playing computer games nearly all week long. I only played some modern games, which aren't relevant for the Top 10...

Facade (PC)... 23 minutes (this actually is an interactive drama)

Silver Protect (Online game)... 14 minutes (this is an advertisement game on the Nivea home page)

Crazy Taxi (PC)... 540 minutes (this is 9 hours) (yes, I know, in that kind of time I could also have played some classic games... but I didn't want to)

L00ks like 5 hours as minutes is usually abbreviated with "

Here are my times for this week... alas, again only one classic game among many non-classic ones:

The classic game (relevant for the Top 10):

Dragster (2600) 5' (HSC game)

Is this equivalent to 5 minutes?

I wasn't sure if ' was for hours and " for minutes or...

if ' was for minutes and " for seconds

either way, Kurt usually just types out the minutes so I thought he may have even meant something else completely :)

Well school night and its late.. but me and my brother are staying up late regardless. We were bored so I flipped power on my Atari and we played for a bit. Here is the break down

Missie Command: 10 Minutes (My brother beat me, I resigned, my reflexes were lacking)

Space Invaders: 10 Minutes (Did pretty well, my brother kept dieing thou forcing us to restart)

Warlords: 18 Minutes (Beat my brother 6-2 in one round, it got close at some parts)

Your comments remind me of the party last Saturday where I had a conversation with a couple that LOVE Galaga and can't wait to play the cabinet I restored.

Anyway, we talked about modern vs. classic games and how LONG it takes to play a modern game vs. the classics. Keep in mind the classics were designed to be short to suck down quarters.

Having said that, back in the day my friends and I would go to the convenient store and play some Galaga or I would be in the arcade on a Friday night BUT it didn't take time away from playing two-hand touch football, playing pick-up baseball or just riding bikes.

Here are my times for this past week (August 31st through September 6th). It, again has been no good week for classic games on my end:

Burger time (Arcade)... 4 minutes (and that was actually for the sake of recording the sounds into an MP3 file)

And a non-classic game, again (irrelevant for the Top 10):

Crazy Taxi (PC)... 262 minutes

Sorry I didn't get to do more...

Are these all-time or YTD stats?

Interesting that as fanatical as people are about the 5200 that the system to date can't even boast a 1,000 minute club member. And with that - BerZerk? The 2600 versions are better than the 5200 version!

I think for 2010 you should move the poll over to the CLASSIC GAMING forum since it's not just about the 2600.

They are all-time stats. We have 47 weeks of stats overall. I'll provide at least a new top 100 update to celebrate our one year anniversary.

Moving the 2010 thread to the classic gaming section makes sense.

I think we might get more participation if we could make this thread a sticky also.
