Reaperman Posted May 16, 2023 Share Posted May 16, 2023 (edited) So as a followup to my previous post, of a stick by @BenjEdwards (BX-108 Neo Serial #1) Here are the internal pics, as I always do. It even has a custom internal board, which is completely unnecessary in a neo controller, but neat to see. Very nice! I kind of suspected something like that might be in there. It even has spots for me to add two more buttons--I haven't checked what format it uses, but a lot of superguns do 6-buttons starting with neo-geo's 4, +2 extra. I had to bust it open right away because, it came with some rattles as the lower 6x 1oz of 'premium weights*' in the picture came detached from the inside of the case. It was packed super-well, but that doesn't save the inside, and the mail carrier gave it a 'huck over the fence' onto the pavement by my doorstep. 🤦♂️ The weights were servo taped on, but that tape seemed to still have enough stick'um left, at least for now, so I just pulled them off of each other and stuck them back down. Kind of crookedly... All told there are what looks like 16-17, 1oz iron weights in there. Sanwa controls all around, as expected. Lever came with a bat-top and stiffer spring, exactly as I like to build my sanwa lever setups, and the square gate even feels a bit more rounded in the corners than I'm used to so, quite surprisingly, this stick isn't getting any mods or tweaking. A bit shocking since I can be opinionated on such things. (🙄) Note the central post in the case with the screw on top--this keeps the already-thick top deck from flexing. Nice touch. Button layout is a little close to the edge for my taste--no place to put my hand, but these 'bx foundry' sticks are all like that. Probably designed more for use on the floor or a low table. I'm more of a 'rest it on my belly' gamer. 🤣 This is the first stick I've ever had with an astro city layout, so I'm going to enjoy forming an opinion on that. So far I know that it makes the 'd' button much more usable by bringing my pink into range (vs. viewlix or straight across layouts). I got quite the bargain, basically getting the whole thing with its custom board, for about the price of the sanwa controls alone. Anyway, time for me to get offline and into some Aero Fighters 2 for testing. Teh Internalz: (Embiggen1) (Embiggen2) (Embiggen3) *'premium weights' definition = Noun. Both are perfect time blowing games, largely bowling on a phone when you have 5-10min to waste.
