Rev
Sources: https://venturebeat.com/2018/05/29/intellivsion-lives-tommy-tallarico-will-relaunch-1980s-console/ https://www.twingalaxies.com/feed_details.php/1652/ The video game industry veteran has been named the new President of Intellivision Entertainment and will be leading the company's plan to relaunch the Intellivision console. Details of the new console will be released on October 1, and you can subscribe to updates at their website. Tallarico said the team is developing a new controller as well. But he said the console will not match the capabilities of modern consoles and it wont be expensive. At launch, Tallarico said there will be 10 games ready, and he said the machine will run an emulator to play all the old games. Jess Ragan
Tommy Tallarico, though? Ugh. Next to Michael Pachter, he's got the worst opinions ever about video games.
mdoerty
I feel better about this than the AtariBox.

BassGuitari
I was excited until I saw "Tallarico." Now I can't help wondering if the system will come wrapped in one of his cheeseball guitar solos. (And before it finishes loading, that website looks like it's going to be an adult site. I've definitely seen that sultry red smoke background on porn sites before. Just saying. ) Still, I hope this pans out. It sounds like they have a focused idea of what the system will be and they're not being overambitious. That's a step in the right direction right off the bat. Maybe they could accidentally leave an opening on the board for an Intellivision cartridge port, a la the Flashback 2... I only worry that a system like this doesn't really have any reason to exist. It sounds like a system that, conceptually, is essentially more or less like any other modern console, only deliberately less capable and useful. I'm no industry veteran like our boy Tommy, but I think it's a mistake to equate "approachable" with "gimped." Simple, fun, affordable, family games--what does that mean? And how is it different from extant alternatives to "hardcore" console/PC gaming like mobile, Flash, indie, etc.? I look forward to Intellivision Entertainment's answer, though. I wonder what the final name will be?Intellibox New Intellivision Console that Intellibox?

atarifan88
Very interesting! With the exception that it will play new games developed by Intellivision Entertainment, I wonder how much different the new console will be from an Ultimate Intellivision Flashback, where you can load your game roms on there via wifi?
