Another quick update: things are moving along nicely. I will make no promises, but we are on track for some small availability in about 30 days.

Beautiful, well done!!! Is that 3D-printed or injection-molded??? I can venture that she is (still) a prototype and if that's the case from what I see in that pic I'm sure we will see an even better version in our hands and gaming setups real soon!!! BRAVO!!!

From the picture, the plastics appear to be 100% 3-d printed...housing, buttons, joystick.

3d-printed is mostly fine.  I've found though that sometimes 3d-printed buttons get stuck a lot, more a function of not properly lining up with the casing.

For this production run at least, everything will be 3D printed (injection molding is still pretty expensive at this scale). I spent a ton of time making sure that all of the buttons line up well, as I wanted to avoid any issues with them. I've found that when 3D printing, it often makes sense to greatly increase non-essential tolerances, that way interference is less of an issue overall, and slight manufacturing variances from controller to controller matter less.

3d is good enough.  Hard to tell unless you really look close.

Wow.

I’ve been away from the AA pages for a long time.

Came back tonight to investigate the going-away-soon carts for sale, and stumbled upon this VERY EXCITING thread.

Hoping the controllers are ready soon, but not too soon as I’m not ready to pony up the cash just yet. August or September would be really good for me. 😉

One question I haven’t seen answered - Lucas, will your controllers fit in the original storage well in the 5200? I understand if they won’t, and of course that’s not a deal-breaker. But if they do fit there that would be a fantastic thing.

In any case I’m so glad I found out about these now, before it’s too late to get one or two.

Thanks Lucas for putting in the time and effort towards this amazing project.

No matter how long it takes I'm also looking forward to ordering/reserving 2 of them come pre-order time.

....anyhow in case you don't already know by now that I have gone out of business due to low viewership/subscriber numbers and YouTube's RIGGED algorithms in which suppress smaller channels like the 3 of mine and also eschew towards more corporate content instead of us small independent free-thinkers who put out ORIGINAL content.

But I'll still be playing (and enjoying) my lineup of Atari systems and that won't change one bit although I mainly play 2600 and 5200 games now as opposed to the other 2 Atari units due to not having multicarts or the money for them (Concerto for the 7800 and AVG Cart for the XEGS).

But getting back to the subject matter yes I DO await the controllers, no matter how long it takes I know that that time is being spent on getting them right.

Days since counter has been reset to 0 in which every trope has been used.  Quitting Youtube, Cindy Margolis, behind on bills, selling consoles.  Bravo.

I would say if you are tyring to start a business doing YouTube videos, you are doing it wrong.  First, do it as a hobby / side project until you get sibscribers.  If you ever get enough to make enough cash to do it, then you switch to full time.  2nd, don't put all your eggs in the same basket, and go on other platforms like Vimeo, Locals, Rumble, etc.

At least that is my advice.  Also, if it is just a side hobby instead of income, you are less likely to give up on it and can keep it going until successful.

STILL, have those consoles, I'm not giving up yet. But yes there won't be any more videos on YouTube unfortunately, not when nobody will ever see them because of the algorithms literally hiding them from site.

...and we're starting to make progress on the bills too. As for Cindy she pretty much is a lost cause.

I especially love that half of it is lies by omission and fails to recognize that the "financial crisis" and Beetle problems were REPEATEDLY given assistance (including by myself, much to my chagrin for being a sucker) via monetary gifts and attempts to help, yet resulted only in buying more cheap crap and then getting further and further in debt.

I say this with little care anymore if I get censured or chastised. Speaking as one of a long line of people who tried to help and only saw our assistance lead to nothing, result in the purchase of more toys (or even worse, to be openly rebuffed because it wasn't "good enough" such as demanding a HOTEL ROOM to sleep in instead of couch surfing or using a guest bedroom while the Beetle was getting repaired FOR FREE), AS MUCH AS THE COMPLAINING ABOUT MONEY OCCURS, AS MUCH AS YOUR SYMPATHY OR HEARTSTRINGS ARE PULLED, DO NOT PROVIDE "HELP." IT WILL NOT GO ANYWHERE. IT WILL NOT BE USED FOR THE INTENDED PURPOSE. THIS HAS BEEN PROVEN TO THE TUNE OF OVER $2500 AT THIS POINT.

That's all. I'm done being off topic about this and I'm done with this particular individual. This has gotten beyond ridiculous and every AA user should be aware of the grift alert. I just hope this doesn't get deleted alongside all the other off topic posts when a mod cleans this dumpster fire up (inevitably), because I think it's becoming a serious issue and is vitally important that users on this site be aware that this is going on, lest a fool and their money be parted by manipulation.

They're trying to get to my goat but I'm not buying into it, I myself would like to stick the main subject matter of this thread, it's THE OTHERS who are perpetuating this BS. BTW, on the intended subject matter I was wondering how the progress is going on these new controllers as I'd love to try them out on my 5200.

So as of THIS MONTH:

You're $1,400 behind in rent.

Also $700 for a payday loan...which was to help pay fees on a previous payday AND ANOTHER payday loan before that?

Your car has 300,000 miles and is on its last leg.

And this is all Cindy's fault because you have to spend money to get her to notice you. 🤪

It sounds like you're nearing homelessness and you won't even have a functioning car to live in.

And despite all that, you're ready to spend $200 on a set of controllers for an old video game console?
