This week I played:

Sonic Origins Plus for PS5 - 417 minutes

Sonic World (R9 rev 2) for PC - 126 minutes

Super Smash Bros. Melee for GameCube - 508 minutes

Progress:

Sonic Origins Plus - Played Mirror mode as Sonic alone for all four games and S Ranked all of the Sonic 1 and Sonic CD Mission modes.

Sonic World - I played through the classic and Sonic Adventure stages as Shadow. I was actually able to get a few S rank emblems I didn't have before.

Super Smash Bros. Melee - I played VS CPU mode until I unlocked all the rest of characters including Mr. Game & Watch.

Not much for me this week:

Apple iOS:

Bust a Move Journey - 18 minutes

Go! Go! Commander Video - 35 minutes

This ancient spinoff of Bit Trip Runner (the source of @wongojack’s avatar) has sadly little to recommend it.

Nintendo Switch:

Crisis Wing - 8 minutes

F-Zero 99 - 5 minutes

Super Korotama - 13 minutes

Nokia N-Gage:

High Seize - 25 minutes

It was the N-Gage’s 20th birthday on Saturday and I figured I had to celebrate it.

In Tampere, Finland, where it was born, they are having a museum exhibition to celebrate it: https://www.vapriikki.fi/en/exhibition/fantastic-failure/

I have loaned several rare games and a box and manuals to the exhibition:

So if you find yourself in Finland check it out!

Here are my times for the week from October 2nd through 8th on modern systems - sorry for the delay, but I was pretty busy on Sunday:

Browser-based:

Taonga: Island farm - 310 min. in 19 sessions

There's not much new going on in Taonga: Island farm. The last completed building has yielded a new quest to fulfill, so there's a bit more to do now. Also, on the turtle island I've reached the second shore where I'm now in the process of collecting things for the next item to complete, and collecting those doesn't take any energy, I just have to travel to the island over and over again.

The new Forza Motorsport reboot grabs pole position and brings the Xbox Series S/X points for being the best team this week. No changes to the 50, 150, 300 Hour Clubs but the total number of games in the tracker is now up to 2603 (yes, I had hoped we would clock in at exactly 2600).

This week I played:

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe for Switch - 365 minutes

Super Smash Bros. Melee for GameCube - 136 minutes

Progress:

Smash Bros - completed Classic and Adventure modes with the remaining unlocked characters on Very Easy, then cleared All-Star mode as Dr. Mario and Mario.

Kirby - Just got the game, started it, completed the normal mode but didn't find 100% of the items yet. I also completed the first area of Extra mode to see how much harder that would be.

PS5

Axiom Verge 2 - 200min.

PS4

Dragon Quest XI - 150min

Minecraft - 95min

Panzer Dragoon Remake - 30min

Sonic Mania - 30min

Organ Trail - 30min

Battlefield 5 - 45min

Upgraded Axiom to PS5 digital free 4k upgrade and it erased all my save data. On the flip side it started a whole new trophy block for the game. I'd rather have my saves than another set of the same trophies though.

Here are my times for the week of October 9th through 15th on modern systems:

Browser-based:

Mergest Kingdom - 390 minutes

Taonga: Island farm - 108 minutes

This week I tried a new game, Mergest Kingdom, or is it called "The mergest kingdom"? Not sure... anyway, it contains a new mechanic I haven't tried yet which is about collecting multiple items of the same sort and then merge them to form a set of fewer higher-valued items, with the goal being to produce the highest-value item of that chain. I played the game for 390 minutes in total due to the initial gaming phase where you always have enough energy to go on, until after a while it tapers off and you get to feel the limits. Still the game is more generous in handing out extra energy than Taonga: Island farm, so in general (at least at the level I'm at) you're getting to play longer sessions and spend more time at the game, also due to the fact that you often have to rearrange things to be able to merge multiple items together. This resulted in the last session lasting 28 minutes, although I stopped playing when I ran out of energy, whereas in Taonga: Island Farm, sessions now usually take around 10 minutes.

In Taonga: Island farm, however, a new festival was introduced on Thursday, so I played it for an unusually long 77 minutes on that day because there was so much to do and explore on that new island.

With all that gaming, though (in total, I spent almost 12 hours of gaming between classic and modern systems this week) I decided this takes far too much time. I also received an email this week from the notary to whom I answered some questions regarding my father's estate, and there will be a meeting this week or next so that things can finally move forward on that front. There is also a class reunion this week and I should invite people to my birthday party, so there's more things to do besides gaming than last week. I should also continue to sort through my father's household goods and documents, as well as sort out my own items and test old devices to see whether they still work. I've pretty much been neglecting all this for the last two months, but it's time to move on now. Therefore I'm planning not to continue gaming for the next three weeks (until November 5th where that birthday party is due to take place), but you'll never know what really will happen.

I have been too busy to game much, but I kind of kept up.

Apple iOS:

Subpar Pool - 26 minutes

IMG_7286.thumb.png.8e53228346d9d955b24cfe47cc60d4d4.png

Addictive fusion of mini golf and pool with bite sized missions that keep you experimenting with new techniques and limitations, this is a fantastic game.

Swatcher - 9 minutes

A short choose your own text adventure to promote Atari’s new Haunted House that also acts as a sweepstakes for winning an Atari 2600+, but worth playing for the amusing writing too: https://atari.club

That looks interesting, though the $4.99 price holds me back a bit as I really don't like paying for cellphone games.  Still, may have to go ahead and give this a go as it looks pretty fun.

It’s deeply worthwhile. I think it is on Switch or coming soon, so that is another option, but it’s a great quick timekiller on phone.
