I still have to finish Undertale...

A lot on the modern side this week.

Sunplus SPG:

Watching a video about prison handhelds:

made me think of my MyArcade Go Gamer, which I think is the same SOC, and look at the clear plastic case in a whole new way. Guess I know what I'll be playing if I ever end up in the slammer!

Sadly mine doesn't have most of the best games he mentioned, so I am on the lookout for one of the ClearTunes units. Honestly though a lot of these games are fun and they are generally way better than the Famiclone games on other MyArcade units.

Air Defense - 12 minutes

IMG_7882.thumb.jpeg.dbc4a0a37dcfa5cd0ef16b1bdce9721a.jpeg

Interesting color mechanic does not make up for the fact that this game is so slow you could play it in your sleep and do fine.

Bubble Shooter - 20 minutes

IMG_7919.thumb.jpeg.5cf9c411130843705af2951140a222e1.jpeg

Middling clone of Puzzle Bobble with no precision aiming. Boo!!

City Battle - 20 minutes

A not unfun horizontal shooter.

Crazy Moto - 25 minutes

IMG_7884.thumb.jpeg.5bf64a30fee307c50cb951ab2284fa72.jpeg

Yes, a Mii-styled Road Rash clone. Very hard and slow but still kinda fun.

Fly Through Flowers - 20 minutes

IMG_7908.thumb.jpeg.e37960cee04080e3e34feeb6d6394f9c.jpeg

Very fun dodge em up.

Full Moon Night - 30 minutes

IMG_7912.thumb.jpeg.21d4bb59c0e4d598651389b25ac28e05.jpeg
Very fun (but unfortunately short - I beat it in one play) puzzle platformer with eerie and dare I say positively avant garde music. Actually check out a video:

Mini Fighter - 25 minutes

IMG_7895.thumb.jpeg.0e44e04ccc4658aee7da381a76266976.jpeg

Gosh, I wonder what their "inspiration" was. Felicia plays like Balrog, though. Really not terrible. Although I beat the game easily including with one perfect round despite sucking at fighting games.

On Fire - 15 minutes

IMG_7915.thumb.jpeg.5e8c314ecf258c5b7ff6b5f035ad26a2.jpeg

Fun but absolutely brutal puzzle game.

Transmover - 20 minutes
IMG_7906.thumb.jpeg.03cbfaac238cd9dab80164f1607bf75d.jpeg

Very fun clone of a Flash game of the same name. However, I could not figure out how to get past stage 7.

Switch:

Arkanoid: Eternal Battle - 40 minutes

IMG_7877.thumb.jpeg.79b98a63e10862c648f3a2bc441b5c50.jpeg
D'oh!

Suika Game - 40 minutes

IMG_7859.thumb.jpeg.f0595c60212137165ec5f48d57b11fe0.jpeg

Fruit keeps getting launched into space.

Super Mario Wonder - 125 minutes

IMG_7860.thumb.jpeg.36bdfb94f2cf359d115b1b99d0ec531e.jpeg

Definitely the most delightful Mario game since 1991.

Retro Bowl College is very easy to play while watching TV, so it got a lot of my gametime this week while I was watching the World Series or other sporting events.  I dunno if I really think the game is that great, but it hits a lot of the right buttons to keep me playing.

Retro Bowl is very well polished and honestly is (pretty much) a perfect blend of simulation and arcade gameplay.  Also, the uniform combinations are 100% on point.  Retro Bowl College, while an impressive effort, is good and more challenging, but not as polished as the original imo.  Still, when you get a generational player that is only around for 3 or 4 years you really appreciate it a lot more than what you can build up team wise in the original.

Duolingo (iOS) finally enters the 150 Hours Club with a total of 9046 minutes, an entry that for the longest seemed it wouldn't make. Coincidentally, it also represents the game with the most combined playtime of the games in this week.

Well, (probably) not really, lol.  But, I will say that Retro Bowl and Retro Bowl College are really good (american) football games that really strike a great balance of arcade and simulation providing a good amount of depth.  Honestly, imo, they are some of best (american) football games ever.

Last week and this week combined I played:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Gamecube - 788 minutes

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Master Quest for Gamecube - 461 minutes

Progress:

I continued Ocarina of Time from the forest temple and completed the game, only missing 8 pieces of heart and the gold scale.

I started a new file in Master Quest and made it to the forest temple.

Last week I played Ocarina of time for the first 560 of that 788 total minutes. The other 228 minutes came from this week. Master Quest's 461 minutes was all this week.

iOS

Duolingo - 35

Jumbline 2 - 19

PC

Deltarune Chapter 1 - 100

Total time = 154 minutes

I'm basically done with Chapter 1, just going back to catch a few things I missed along the way. It's weird that there's one encounter which seems unnecessary but is way more difficult than anything else in the game (which overall is very easy).

Wandersong 127

Xbox Series X/S

Frog Detective: The Entire Mystery 35

I won the National Championship on both the Medium and Hard difficulties in Retro Bowl College, so I think my desire to play is a bit sated.  It definitely needs some work IMO to make the offseason and program building a bit more interesting, but it is a fun game.  I'm not as high on it as @Hwlngmad, but all those minutes I've put in don't lie.

Definitely Retro Bowl College is not a polished and as well put together as the original.  But, like you said, it is still a fun game and definitely can suck you in, that's for sure.

I'm back with a bit of time to contribute! I spent the past week recovering from a gallbladder removal surgery, which I had to have done on account of a rather enormous gallstone that was likely to perforate my gallbladder at some point if I didn't get the gallbladder removed, so I went ahead and got the surgery done.

The recovery has been going better than expected and I'm fairly mobile and able to get back to most of my usual routine after a week of healing, though it'll be another week before I can return to work and probably another month before I can resume eating a normal diet. For now I'm stuck on a really low fat diet while my body figures out how to digest fats again without the aid of a gallbladder, but slowly and steadily I'm getting there. :)

Anyhoo, this week I finished the playthrough of Silent Hill for the original PlayStation that I started for Halloween and after that I did a full playthrough of Metroid: Zero Mission for the Game Boy Advance. They were both a lot of fun and a great way to pass the time while I've been parked in bed recovering!
