+sixersfan105
Mine is X 209 008330. Purchased it essentially NIB from Goodwill - appeared to have never been touched! I sold the box and all of the packaging material, though. I know people hate on X units, but I've been a huge fan since I got my hands on it a few years back. turbofly
Here are the numbers for my 2 units: AT 85 036821 - It has the expansion port, I've modded it with the Longhorn Engineer board, and it is compatible with the Starpath Supercharger. A1 78 5997744 - This one only has the hole for the expansion port. The slot is a different shape and doesn't work with non standard Atari carts like the Activision ones or the Supercharger. I skimmed through this post several times without truly taking notice of the original Atari gradient color line. Thanks for pointing this out! Yours has the R-O-Y-G-B-P scheme, while later-run units have the Y-O-R-P-B-G scheme (split and reversed toward the middle). The “ROY” scheme appears to represent the very earliest run... Does anyone know the story on this? I wonder if it was a simple marketing change, a way to distinguish the El Paso run, or if they are those that were test marketed in the summer of 1984. phattyboombatty
In an unbelievable stroke of luck, I was able to purchase an OG 1984 El Paso Atari 7800 ProSystem unit, which arrived today! Other than the “ROY” color scheme, it was unclear what the serial number was from the photos (hence my interest signaled in the above post). My EP beauty, s/n 002953 arrived today with matching box:
