famicommander
My new machine, Best Electronics AV modded: A1 88 5425519 No expansion port. I think my old one needs a new power switch, but that'll have to wait. I don't really need it now.
themushroom
I refurbed a few years ago but didn't take notes what models. Machine I've been using since the 90s: A1 85 5319426 No expansion interface but the hole in the case is there, and while it does play Robot Tank I can't get Espial to plug into the slot. Trebor
I can't get Espial to plug into the slot. If interested, you could try the couple of suggestions from this thread.
themushroom
If interested, you could try the couple of suggestions from this thread. That's one solution, thank you for pointing it out to me... but I'd rather cut down the points in the cartridge than drill the screw posts in the slot. Trebor
That's one solution, thank you for pointing it out to me... but I'd rather cut down the points in the cartridge than drill the screw posts in the slot. There was another solution presented in the thread as well....You could cut the corner sides of the cart holder with an X-Acto knife (Cost ~$5). Although, that may not be appealing to you either...Just offering up some options.
BalloonFighter
I have one to add to the list. I have the box to it, but I don't have a picture. The box looks exactly like this. +Zeptari
Here's mine. Expansion port included. Plays Robot Tank and SuperCarger games fine off my Harmony cart.Would this console be a good candidate fr an AV mod?

7800fan
A1 795008311 Hole in side of the shell for expansion but no connector. Probably one of the earliest 7800 without connector?
toymailman
i picked up an Atari 7800 with a pretty low serial today at the local thrift store. Anything special about this guy or just a run of the mill? Has the expansion port too. Yes, this one is special. It is the lowest serial number to date of the "official" release. Cool! +sramirez2008
A1 88 5456395. No expansion port. Thinking of ordering a new one from Best Electronics. Been playing this one pretty regularly since 2008, and don't have a backup.
Andromeda Stardust
Made in Taiwan. No expansion port. Best AV modded. A1 88 5425514 I haven't run into any compatability issues yet but I play most of my 2600 games on the 4-switch VCS.

BillieBeard
Recently decided to enter the crazy world of Atari so I decided to pick up a 7800. (Not sure if I will ever be ready to take on the 5200.) I plan to clean it up this weekend and test it. There is some surface rust on some of the components but I have repaired other consoles in worse shape. So my Serial Number is A1 875396310 It does not have the expansion port.
