Atariman
Not really a "thrift find", but I happened to notice a lonely PS2 sitting in a box in front of the dumpster this morning on my way to work. I hopped out of my car, looked in the box - and found that not only was the console there, but the hookups, two PS2 controllers, one PS1 controller, and two 8MB PS2 memory cards. I plugged it into the power inverter I have in my car and hit the eject button... a copy of Tiger Woods 2007 was in there. Not bad for free, eh? I imagine it probably works as everything was still with it. Probably just somebody who got a PS3 and decided they didn't even want to try and trade in their PS2. PS2s, especially the older, fat models, notoriously stop reading one kind of disc or another. Try it with both blue and silver-backed discs, and with PS1 games and DVDs before you call it "working"

Atariman
Tested it out last night... and it totally works! I opened it up and cleaned it out (it was pretty packed with dust) and made sure to run my laser lense cleaner in it afterwards, but it seems to work just fine! SpendTooMuchOnAtari
I went to a couple stores today and came out with the following for around $68. Most is for sale as I have many of these already, the M&M DS game is for my collection but I think the rest is up for grabs. I have no idea what the Star Wars packs are. I have looked on ebay and google and all and have come up with nothing. It says "24 classic packs" on it and the box is still factory sealed. I don't know what to do with this. Anyone have any idea what this is or what the approximate value may be....if any? Thanks for looking at my finds!
madhatter667
Let me see...last thrift hunt I dug up: Pro Wrestling Super Mario Bros. 3 Rolling Thunder Where's Waldo All for the NES. The Rolling Thunder and Mario 3 were dupe carts, but whatever, they were a buck. Went to a used shop, and found Tac-Scan, Reactor, and Mega Force for the 2600. Ebay hopping (I know doesn't count so much) I got Colony Wars for a penny, plus a couple bucks shipping, and the Famicom Mini import of Super mario Bros. 2, which ran me a lot more than a penny. 2600Lives
Sweet! Found a Tandy 1000EX computer at a store today for 4 dollars. Works great, too! Just needs a little cleaning.
2600Lives
Well, after a couple of hours with the good ol' 409 and a toothbrush, the 1000EX looks damn good. Boots right up using an IBM DOS floppy, too. I also picked up a Wico Command Control joystick for the 2600, which I'm probably gonna make my main stick for my Commodore stuff. It was only 4 bucks, too, and cleaned up NICE (and works like a friggin' charm). Not a bad haul!

If traded, that stuff's gotta be worth at a bare minimum $10 or $15, probably more since the console works. Does it have a hard drive in the bay? SRGilbert
Not too much this weekend, which sucks because I hit a TON of sales. Playstation Time Crisis game and gun boxed set, complete - $5 C64 Plug and play joystick - $3 Intelivision system with Demon Attack game (untested and dirty!) $2 (INTV was one of the last systems I didn't have, so that's cool. PS2 Spyhunter $3 PS2 Logitech wireless pad, like new $15 (from Gamestop) Nice suprise at Goodwill last night, they had a huge PILE of dvd's that must have just come in, and priced very reasonably. Muppet Show Seasons 1, 2 and 3 - $10 each Animaniacs Seasons 1 and 2 - $10 Looney Toons Golden Collection Volume 2 - $10 All of these are like brand new, can't imagine why they would have been donated? Really wierd, especially since this Goodwill never has dvd's. They had a lot more regular movies too, just as nice for $4 each, but nothing else I needed. Looks like the person who owned it previously really liked their sports games as that was what about 99% of the saves were on the memory cards. I'm actually pretty surprised that the controllers are so responsive - nothing shows THAT much wear, the PS2 was just really, really, really dusty! shadow460
Got a PS1 with an official RF modulator for $15. It's the newer black RF unit, not the one that goes with the 1001 series PS1. I think the PS1 itself may be broken, as the cover jams up. I think it's already got warped plastic and the CD drive may be affected. It powers up, but I haven't hooked it to a TV or got inside of it yet. Got Crisis Core for PSP, UMD and instructions only for $15. Also got a book for Poker Face Paul's Poker for the Game Gear, and paid $1 for that. Also got a fast 4 gig memory stick ... hold the phone, man ... my word, wickeycolumbus! $34 for all that!? Got inside the PS1, the CD drive is gone into its afterlife. I'll have to rip one from a 7001 series PS1, and I'll have to rip a couple of other parts from the "donor" unit. AtariLeaf
Haven't posted here in years, since I got out of collecting but I thought I'd share my find which may pull me back in: I don't see anything Atari in yardsales anymore but I found a pretty good haul for $40: 81 games in total with some nice semi-rare games like Strawberry shortcake, commando, Rampage, KungFu Master, etc. There's a pic of the games. http://picasaweb.google.com/windsorsims2fa...996510683593890 Also, not pictured, a 6 switch woody and a 6 switch sears video arcade, two joysticks and an ac adaptor. No RF switch so I can't actually test the systems yet but its nice to be back in the game. Also picked up a boxed Wico Trackball the other day for 5bucks. rockman_x_2002
Hit another flea market. The last few weeks have been excellent for thrift finds for myself, and today I add yet another find to the pile. For $5, a DMS Tele-Action mini TV Game, a Pong clone from 1983. CIB with all original packaging inside. I haven't had a chance to test it yet as I don't have six AA batteries on hand, nor do I have a power adapter that will fit the unit. However, I have no reason to believe it shouldn't work because everything appears to be new and looks as though it wasn't used at all (even the packaging looks new). If anyone has any info about this Pong clone (besides the fact that it is a Pong clone, and a rather simple one by 1983 standards), I'd appreciate it. Edit: Pics added.
