Deteacher
I've played a couple games of Progressive Breakout and I noticed a couple times the score will start racking up really fast. I know there's supposed to be a "magic brick" in the 2600 version of progressive, but it seemed to happen at different times/places for me. The last time I played, I triggered this 'bonus' twice. Does anyone know what causes the bonus to trigger?
+therealbountybob
Post for Travlar! My score is 23,640 I beat level 1 re Breakout, it's when you overwhelm the score counter on the blue blocks!

I've tried with a few different settings has anyone else had problems with this? I think you still have BASIC enabled - disable it and you should be fine You need to think whether you are going for the Beg&Inter or Inter&Expert on Downhill; also for Kaboom if you are small or big paddles, as you are new it's a bit harsh making you play in the pro set but you did have a convincing win at Moon Patrol. I'll leave it up to you --- Here are the Naval rankings folks: (I'm away from home PC incase anyone's wondering about me fixing the tables!) McKong
Downhill Inter - 25.58 Seems a bit quick compared to other peoples scores so not sure whether there's a variation between the emulators. I'm playing this one on Atari800Win+4.0 I tried playing on Altirra and the little ski dude is uncontrollable with the slope set to 60 degees

Perhaps I'll give it a try with small paddles

justin case
Kaboom: 1823 Think this will probably be the only game I enjoy out of this round - the clowns got old quick: think they got played to death when I were a wee lad (or maybe just dropped alot!!) Don't know if I'm just getting old (I do find myself playing as Bill alot in Left4Dead!) or whether my gaming talents have been somewhat blinkered by a steady diet of FPS's since Doom sneaked / snuck up on an unsuspecting gaming public (and gouged an eye out!) but, whilst some of these games on offer this round ring a faint mental bell when I first read their titles it wasn't until I played them that I [mis]remembered being a God at them! Now I seem to struggle to stay alive through the opening credits So, should I hang up my lycra, pac-man coloured, gaming thong, buy a rocking chair and a couple of Vera Lynn albumns or should I slip my joystick a couple of Viagra and a hit of speed (calm down!) and say "I Will NOT go gently into the night!!!!" Never found any A8 stuff 'round here ever since everyone bought C= or Apple. I'm only using carts on A8 because I just don't want to buy stuff twice. I do have somwhere around 30-40 carts thus far. You should run Kaboom as 2 games: Large paddle and Small paddle. There is a HUGE difference in play and my small paddle score is beatable, but not likely. I'll put a list in for you, but most are regular common games. There used to be an old type-in game called "Diamond Drop" that was lots of fun. No problem here with "teaming" with the paddle challenged.

Did you play C&B on advanced, if not have a crack then go for expert too... also take a look at the ATR ver of WEavy Navy it's an excellent game and more challenging... a lot of paddles games are fairly simple and don't set the world alight... River Rat is pretty good too creep your way up to the higher levels, there's a race bonus at the end of level 4 I think... must get you some real h/w sorted, hey if you're handy with a soldering iron (I'm not!) then you could make up an SIO2/PC cable - can someone post a link I could then dontate you an XEGS

Marius
I'm sorry to ask something that might have been discussed, but I don't understand river rat. YES I play with joystick. 1) I don't understand what the goal of the game is. Just avoiding any collision with anything floating around in the river? 2) When is the first level done? When you get those bonusses? 3) In the table I see bonus: 2, 3 or whatever. Do I have to remember during play what bonusses I got? 4) The game continues after the first bonusses. How am I suppose to get in time a camera and shoot the screen? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Marius

Running over a duck decreases your score. Running over a swimmer reduces your score and makes you lose control of your ship for a few seconds. 2. The level just comes to an end (usually around 20 seconds remaining if you didn't crash.) Press the fire button to switch between low and high gear. Your bonus racks up when you reach the end of the river. There really isn't any warning. 3. The bonuses in this game are for highest river reached and highest score after the 1st river. 4. Just have your camera ready. Once your bonus starts racking up, quickly grab your camera and get ready to shoot.
