Colecovision Auction Watch

While a thread like this is very fun to follow and discuss amongst fellow members, it stinks (for lack of a better word) when items that you are interested in get posted about here in this thread. Although I personally don't think it it will add a tremendous number of new "Watchers" or "Bidders" since most who follow this thread also follow eBay pretty religious hoping for those missing items to show up. We are all probably butting heads for items a lot more than we realize.

Yes, I agree. The extra advertising for an auction potentially creates more competition, and among a relatively friendly collecting group, why do that to a fellow collector? A few years ago, a small group of AAers would PM each other about auctions and ask if anyone intended to bid. It was a nice way of avoiding unnecessarily jacking prices up on each other. I think if a person is interested in something on eBay, that person will invariably have set up a search for the item and so catch the vast majority of auctions that come up (the occasional "here's a pic, I'm too lazy to list the contents" type of auction aside).

same way with intellivision.....we are constantly bidding with each other on some of the same auctions. but there are always people who are not on AA who will bid on stuff and get it even if none of us try to get it.

Just letting everyone know that I have 4 pixelboy homebrews up on Ebay.

Pitfall II Arcade

Gulkave

Destructor SCE

Track & Field - link for this one is below... hope it works.

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 1406800388031?ff3=2&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&item=140680038803&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

I'm out of the Coleco scene so I'm selling these off... I hope they make it to a great home! I have some loose carts to add to the marketplace one of these days.

Anyway, good luck to any and all bidders!

The seller says these are salesman/dealer kits for toy fairs. I saw something like this turn up on eBay once over the past several months, so I'm assuming that they're fairly uncommon.

Wow!!! That was an absolute steal at that price and in that condition. If you ever want to sell them on I'd certainly be willing to pay you much more.

That's encouraging! I figured that these were undervalued, but I didn't know how much. I think I'll keep them for my collection, but I'll be sure to contact you if I decide to sell. The seller still has many catalogs from toy fairs but no videogame-exclusive material.

WOW! is a huge understatement! A couple months ago one of these electronic show sales kits sold for over $700 in an eBay Auction (the two BINs you purchased for $50), although I can't comment on the completeness of the one you just bought.

GREAT SCORE!!!

Holy crap! I had no idea these were in such demand. I guess a lot of these were discarded after the shows. They should be here in a day or two, so I'll report back then.

BTW, that older auction for the Press Kit only included the ColecoVision folder if I recall correctly. It did not contain the folder that contains the non-ColecoVision items like the table tops, Gemini system and games for other systems although the flyers where included.

So to put it bluntly, I am very jealous!

Yes, they are very much in demand. I had one of these folders with all of the inserts with it. I paid only $15.00 off of ebay for it back in 2002. I made good money selling the sheets one at a time. Let's put it this way, The "Super Game Module" sheet (the one used as my avatar) sold for $110.00 alone and that was starting the auction off at $14.95 (auction style, no reserve, no buy it now). BTW, that was back in 2006.

Well, I feel better about just missing out on last month's 2600 proto BIN now. Do you recall how many sheets yours came with? This one has 42, I believe.

Well, I should be more careful when I say I had all of the sheets. I had all of them except the Coleco VCS (2600) game sheets. That was base on the info I could find at the time. As a matter of fact, because of you I realize I was missing that second folder, however I think I still had most (if not all) that contents of that folder. I want to say there were about 90 sheets. I owned about 70 of them and I think there is about 16-20 of the Coleco Atari sheets. The Atari sheets are red, the Intellivision sheets are blue, and the ColecoVision sheets are black. As far as I can tell that seem to be the total number of sheets. There is not a lot of info out there on them so, if anyone has anymore info, please post.

I can tell you, that I would love a high res scans of that second folder you just bought. ;)

This lot looks beautiful, and clean, and well cared for. But the price seems a little on the high side.

What would be a more realistic offer, $600-ish?

I added this lot up yesterday "quickly" in my head and came up with around $1000 - $1100 and would have to look it over again to verify that figure. The one thing about selling large lots like this is that you have to be willing to accept a little less, usually, in order to inspire someone to part with that much money all at once. It never hurts though to start with a higher price like this to see if you get lucky and then adjust accordingly.

The Coleco flyers arrived today. I cross-referenced my sheets with coleconut's list (thanks!) and came up with a new list. I am missing two that coleconut owns (2511 and 2659). I believe that Smurf Rescue 2600 is actually 2465, not 2456. I own 30 product sheets that coleconut does not list. I put an asterisk next to these and listed the title in all caps. There are also a couple of non-product flyers that came with mine that I list at the end. I think I have a scanner than can make good images of these, so that's an upcoming project. Thanks to everyone for their advice and encouragement!

The disturbing thing is the guy says box looks to be glued back shut.

Is gluing a box shut the new "power supply is lost I couldn't test it"?

BTW, the Language Card mentioned in the above post is a Coleco made interface card... guess I should have mentioned this originally. With this Interface Card installed, the SmartWRITER Word Processor program displays in French and if you remove the Interface Card, everything reverts back to English.

Expansion Slot #2 is always checked for the existence of software burnt to Proms before defaulting to the SmartWRITER Proms installed on the motherboard and there were also a number of Homebrew Interface Cards that included an open socket for the addition of programs that were 32K in size or smaller like SmartBASIC.
