Super Bubble Pop Neo Geo MVS 2024

 

 I offer you a 90's unboxing of the MVS version of Super Bubble Pop as well as a series of pluses and minuses of my first impressions. The game is developed by Vektorlogic.

This reissue of the game originally released on the Neo Geo arcade in the early 2000s has just been republished in the year 2024 by Piko Interactive, in collaboration with Pixel Heart.
Super Bubble Pop, version 2024, was to integrate a cocktail mode, a sort of VS mode where two players could compete, a bit like Pong (vertically, like a cocktail ^^).

According to the publishers, the game was to include:

  • A purple MVS cartridge
  • A marquee
  • A flyer
  • A comic
 
After several months of delay on the announced release date, the game is finally available, here is the unboxing:
 
 


The video of my very first games (sorry for the sound a little too low):
 
 
 
Below are my impressions of the “kit” and the very first phases of single + and - play.
 
Most :
  • The cartridge is nice and seems quite sturdy
  • The box is nice
 
The lessers :
  • No comics
  • Not a great game (but hey, that's subjective)
  • No serial numbering
  • A display bug after the first part, reboot required (see video, at around 5min)
  • A cocktail mode? Where ? I didn't understand
  • A series limited first to 20 copies, then 30 then 25 etc. nothing serious
  • Crumpled receipt flyer
  • No old-fashioned kit... (?)
 
 
This quick return can give a small idea of what could be the future reissues of Neo Geo games owned by Piko Interractive. Far from the requirements of Neo Geo retro-gamers.
