I have not drawn him with 2:1 pixel ratio, so he should appear broader if he can be used as sprite

I don’t think Witch Mathilda from Bentley Bear has any animation.

I guess all sprites in the game have a 2 frame animation

So after @aaron1677's request, I decided to post my interpretation of the boss (since I had him ready) !

also attached is a generic mini-boss..  I can't see the point of this guy, it's the same size as the standard enemies..

 

but anyway here they are in glorious animation :

So, I'm not sure how he's planning on using these. When I did a 144dpi version, he (gambler) said it was too big and the 72dpi version was better. 

Either way, I am building ALL of these houses at a very high resolution, which I then can easily scale down to make pixel versions at any size or resolution. Just let me know.

 

Attached are screenshots of the three I've made so far. There are two more as well as the "church" at the end. 

 

Could you draw these houses, or add to the graphics of these houses, a sandy-brown background?

 

Arrows point to line of horizon.

 

(anyway, your houses look really, really cool!!)

Even if the bosses would be limited to only 1 frame, we can pick 1 (out of the 2) frame(s) to use.

Hey Giles,

 

I watched some videos,

the witch uses 2 frames, one while hovering and one when she attacks !

also she clearly uses at least 6 colors..  so we are good !!

 

..I couldn't locate the mini boss though.

Ok, then we can of course use both frames!

Try @TIX version; its more consistent in cumulative style and has 2 animation-frames...

could you use the dark grey of the walls-in-shadow or the brown of the doors, to make sand/earth/ground...?

If what you meant by ‘each zone’ is the background parallax, we can fill it (the backdrop unto where the houses stand) out with sandy-colored tiles.

What if one makes tiles in the color of the doors or the walls which has shade on them?

Can the blue be filled with tiles of brown or grey?

This would change  the other objects in the zone....
