Funny you mention the hotline - the hotline is the source of the next Evercade cartridge!  It's a collection from Gremlin Interactive.

and once again, not coming via the email list.  Not sure why I keep getting blindsided by evercade news in this thread, versus the direct email notification I'm signed up for. ?

But 3d racing game on the gremlin cart means I'm 100% in...even if I have to scroll through zool to get there. ?

Hardcore 4x4, or offroading in general, isn't entirely 'my jam' but racing is still racing, and we haven't had as much of it as I'd like yet.

Found out about the Founders Editions... the first portion of systems that have been sent were in the first shipping container.  My Founders Edition is in the second shipping container that is expected in the next week or two so it'll be on its way but I don't think it'll make Christmas morning.  I'm just thankful to know the status of my Founders Edition.

Really looking forward to the Intellivision cart and checking out the new arcade line!

Just got round to trying my Vs.  It's a really well put together system for the money.  I like the interface and the joypads feel very comfortable as well.  I can see myself playing it a fair bit more than my handheld which has been pretty neglected for months.  Finding having the games on a big screen makes a difference to playability.

And I get a strange kick out of hearing the cartridge insert noise when changing carts :)

Here is a very poor video I just shot of the menu after the update, it is a big improvement I would say.  The new startup music is different and I prefer the old, but oh well, not a big deal.

Also the update took like 3 minutes total for me to get and use.  Big thumbs up.

Oh and PS, it's the Atari cartridge for Tanooki's benefit :) :) :)

Looks fun, the menu, it's a nice improvement to say the least.

It's strange I think I'd really enjoy using that thing, especially with the real arcade titles popping up next year.  THen there's the Lynx and the oddball modern mega cat and piko stuff too that never were a thing back in the era like largely the rest.  The 2 pack with xeno crisis looks solid as well.

It's no big deal but I lost all my saves in the process, though ?

Ooh boy. I’d better Swedish death clean the games I have saves on before I upgrade, then. Were they saves with timestamps (saves made with the newer firmware) or saves without (saves made with the older firmware) or all of the above?

It's difficult to know for sure because the save system had already changed before (with timestamps instead of those ridiculous 3-digit numbers) as jgkspsx said, and I hadn't played a lot since then, even though I'm pretty sure I used that second save system for a few games - but don't remember which ones to be honest. ?

Also there may have been a problem during the update. There was not cartridge in the handheld when I updated, so I got a (normal) error message when it rebooted the first time (it was slightly long, too). But the first time I powered it up with a cart, I got the same error message as if no cart was inserted. ? I turned it off and on again IT-style, and it worked this time. I also lost every setting (language and stuff) but it's not surprising since they're quite different.

Edit: just checked my Mega Cat Collection 2 since I remember playing it recently... And I clearly lost my recent saves too.

Sounds to me your saves were victim to a erase-write error when it did a purge of the storage to pop the new firmware and remove the old.  Maybe it's a bug as a game should have been in there, or just a rare bit of bad luck.  It seems almost like it wanted to find something, couldn't, and then got confused where it got long stuck, then remained glitched on a real start up with a game.  It seems like instead of an update it did a factory reset.
