Unfortunately, I have decided to pull the plug on the Cordoba Chronicles project. Why? Well, 6502 assembly is still too complicated for me to understand, and since I have recently converted to a MacBook, I can't find any good programming tools I could use on the Mac. Sigh...

I'll still probably keep the storyline going, perhaps as a series of short stories or something. Maybe if someone were to take up the project, I'd be interested in being involved with it again, but consider the project dead for now.

EDIT: Here's the instruction manual I typed for the game when I was still developing it... Cordoba_Chronicles_Manual_Draft.doc

Im having fun with the 2600 label maker that is online. its awesome. I created a few of them and i have posted them up on other topics and the main pic of me. Anyways i havent written here for a while and i still want to unload some of my games that i have that i have been wanting to uload for quite some time. Talk to you all later

  3. So, as some of you know, I got a job at ThinkGeek last year, and I've been pestering the swag team with a plethora of arcane ideas for tee shirts basically since day one. Lots of them get turned down because "it would take someone ten minutes to get this joke." I can understand how having someone stop you on the street so they could stare at your chest for ten minutes might make potential customers uncomfortable. ;) I have had one idea actually make it to print before today, but this one I'm really fond of (and our desig-nerd did a great job with it, too):

  4. Game: A.B. Cop (Air Bike Cop)

    Developer/Publisher: Sega

    Year: 1990

    Hardware: X Board

Note: After Burner, Super Monaco GP and Thunder Blade arcade games also run on the X Board.

A.B. Cop is just Chase H.Q. (from Taito) but with some few twist. You control a very fast Air Bike (hence “A.B.” in the title) and your goal is to knock down enemy bikes. Part one of the stage is to knock down the regular bikes. They are usually six bikes in the stage and they take about one-three hits. You hit them by ramming into them. When all the regular bikes are gone is when you face the boss which is part two. They are usually easy to kill if you collect enough Jump icons. You bike can Jump in the game (usually to dodge or cause more damage to the boss), but you are limited to how many Jump icons you have. It’s recommended to use Jump when you’re fighting a boss (by ramming in air and hitting head-on cause more damage).

Great graphics for its time (scaling is great) and the music is good enough for the theme. If you want to play Sega’s take on Chase H.Q. then give A.B. Cop a shot.

I am watching my little adopted cousins today and wishing I could just go home and relax! I have to do loads of work on thursday and am not looking forward to it. I cannot wait anymore for California! Just a chance to get away from my family for a while I think will do me a lot of good. I just beat Zelda again for the umpteenth time and now I am a craving a bit of a challenge so I might throw in Legendary Wings later. Ah well...Not much else to say! A nice if boring first entry, but I am happy with it.

    Have a nice day!

Well, as some of you may know, and most of you dont, I am a big fan of the original Playstation. Its my favorite game system and I own about 90 games for it. I'm not sure why I love the playstation so much. Maybe its because I grew up with the games on it or because it just seemed like most games for it were unique and amazing. I always have my PS1 connected to a TV so that I can play some of my old favorites.

Recently, Ive been playing both Final Doom and Star Wars: Dark Forces.

Simply put, ill never part with my ps1.

  6. I am absolutely ecstatic. I have been waiting paitently for the arrival of my nephew Charlie. Finally he has arrived, a little unexpected... but what an awesome Valentine's present! Charles Eugene Varner Saldana was born at 11:47 pm on Thursday, February 15th, 2007. He weighed 7 lbs, 1 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. He has a tiny little head... only 13 inches and his chest was 12 3/4 inches. Charlie is a little chunk. :D He is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen!!! (Of course Aunt JellE is a little biased) He had a full head of wavy black hair, and the biggest dark blue eyes I have ever seen...well... when he opens them, that is. (I know those will change, but maybe not too much)

I was with my sister through all of it... from the moment she was admitted to the epidural to the c-section to the discharge to go home. This is definitely an experience I won't soon forget. In many ways it was hard for me to see my sister go through so much. I cried when they tried to give her the epidural, as they had to stick her 3 times before they got it in. After that, I was alright, and so was she. (Definitely not feeling much pain at all! I kinda wish I coulda got one! haha)

But I am truly thankful all turned out much better than we had initially feared. We were under the impression Charlie would be very small and not fully developed. The dates were all messed up, and all of the people interpreting his sonograms apparently weren't all that accurate. I am actually very glad they were all wrong. He scored an 8 on his Apgar, and his audiology report was near perfect. He has all of his little fingers and toes. Nothing at all wrong with him. Everyone at the hospital was amazed how there were no problems with him as he was in the womb almost 2 days AFTER the membrane was ruptured, and he ended up coming into the world via supposed emergency c-section.

I am relieved, exhausted, and just happy as can be. My little nephew has been the greatest Valentine's present I could have ever asked for. I am most definitely a very proud Auntie!!! :)

  7. A note for myself: do not delete this backup until I finish my mamewah setting project or when I build my multi-console :D

Nice to meet you. I live in Tokyo in Japan.

(My best regards though thought that English is strange because the translation

    software is used. )

My generation bought it at the same time as LYNX and JAGUAR's without the charm's being felt in any game machine made in Japan when "LYNX" and "JAGUAR" were just marketed (VIRTUALBOY is another), and having been imported by Japan.

It is LYNX and a favorite game is "ZENDOCON""California Games. "

It plays chiefly with Emulator now.

It is Jaguar and a favorite game is "TEMPEST2000" "DEFFENDER2000". Especially, that outlook on the world of which it goes mad feels "DEFFENDER2000" very attractive.

    Is "KASUMININJA"?

Anyway, I am playing still with Emulator in the game etc. of ATARI2600.

Please always speak with MSN and multiply if it was interested in me. If it is English

like a little, it is possible to speak.

(There is actually a friend in the United States. )

  8. I plan to resurrect this ol' gal from the dead. Not that I really had any fans, but hey :D . Plan on seeing some new articles in the near future!

  9. I recently got a batch of games from AtariAge, Colecovision and INTV... and, the INTV games really have impressed me. I picked up Pepper 2 and Mousetrap and Venture and Donkey Kong Jr. Donkey Kong Jr. actually seems to be a better version than the 5200/8 bit versions (which is surprising, because Donkey Kong for Coleco is so random and weird... not unenjoyable... just so radically bizzare)...

The only fault I can find is that the games seem fairly easy to me... and I remember that being one of their limits back in the day. The easy level was far to easy, the harder levels were far too hard... no good middle ground. But the game play on these titles is great. I'm wondering if Mousetrap and Pepper 2 made it to any other platforms. I don't think so...

On the INTV, I picked up Frogger, Donkey Kong, Demon Attack and Atlantis. Mostly out of Curiosity. These are titles that I pretty much have on nearly every retro console. Frogger is on EVERYTHING. Donkey Kong on NEARLY everything, and Demon and Attack and Atlantis are available on the real important consoles... so...

Weird, the INTV versions. Demon Attack isn't really even the same game, to me. I've heard people talk about the background, and the waves, and the mother ship... I haven't gotten that far (I guess I should put some more time into it)... but, basically from what I've played, it has little in common with the Atari 8 bit and 2600 versions other than the name.

Atlantis is pretty cool, and has a far more Missile Command knock-off feel to it.

Frogger seemed strange, although still mostly Frogger... and Donkey Kong must be one of the most *interesting* versions out there. It just looks SO odd. Even the 2600 version looks more faithful to the original... It plays and feels like Donkey Kong... mostly... but you can certainly feel the INTV influence going on there... making it a unique version among all others. Makes me feel sorry for the kids who were stuck with an INTV during this period... when all the cool titles were starting to come out cross platform... and INTV was getting it's own versions... but they still had that whole INTV oddness around them anyhow...

Not that the INTV versions are horrible. They're just *weird*.

  12. Hi!

The beta version can be downloaded here:

    http://atari.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=1592

It's for 8-bit. And maybe I could convert it to 5200, but I don't know too much that machine.

  13. Greetings! It has been a while since I have posted to Atari Age. I have now updated my website and created a blog here on Atari Age to better keep in touch with the community. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Atari Joe and I am very excited about video games. I created my website to help promote awareness about Atari systems and to let you get to know me a little bit better. As I mentioned, my name is Atari Joe Rivera and I serve as Captain of the Atari Super-Gang. I know all there is to know about Atari. I have an extensive background in Atari History journeying into all aspects of video game and computer markets. I have a big collection of classic games including a sizeable Atari and NES collection in addition to Pong, 2600, 5200, 7800, Lynx, Jaguar, Flashback, Coin-Op and Computer systems. I even have an autographed 7800 signed by Nolan Bushnell and a boxed Ms. Pac-Man signed by 2600 pioneer Gene Landrum.

I have many old friends here at Atari Age including Stan Junior, Liquid Sky, Moycon, Bratwerst, Uncle Duke, and everybody else that I forgot to mention. I would like to say hi to everybody and say that I have missed everyone and that I hope everyone is doing well and having a great summer.

Okay so many of my friends and fans may want to know what is new with me and what I have been up to the past several months. Here is a quick rundown:

Site Refit - I have made may major updates to my entire website. We underwent our first site refit for the first time in five years since I brought my site over from geocities to Atari 7800.com. The main structure of the site is pretty much the same but we now have many new graphics that are crisp and clean. We also have new pages and a slew of new content. I hope you like the new site!

Raiders of the Lost Carts - After six years they're finally here! THE ALL-NEW RAIDERS OF THE LOST CARTS! There are a whole bunch of new cartridges on line. Great titles from Golden Girls to Twin Peaks, to games about Yuppies and Napoleon Dynamite. Raiders was first placed up on the original incarnation of Atari 7800.com in November of 2000 to rave reviews, however the page and related files were accidently lost during a transition that involved the domain changing hands and an overhaul of the entire site. Fortunately I was able to save this page from the scrap heap when I moved my webpage to be hosted here at Atari 7800.com.

Joe's Choice YouTube Links - This page features my absolute favorite most funny videos ever, including the Whitney Houston "Kiss My Ass" video montage from The Soup, the New Adventures of Mr. T cartoon, and "Rollin' with Saget" music video.

New Pictures Page - Back with some new picture updates, kids! I added a lot of new pictures to my photo gallery. There are new pictures from 4th of July when everyone came down and pictures of me with my new sandals. There are also all of the new pictures of me with the Mercedes-Benz S500 sedan! You can see the pictures by visiting my "Joes Glorious Photo Gallery".

Atari Super-Gang Updates - I have updated the area of the Atari Super-Gang to include all of our members.

My MySpace.com Page - I started my very own MySpace.com page. I have over 1,000 friends and growing. If you like Atari, AND you like MySpace, you should go there and add me as your friend.

An Update on my Personal Life - My Health, My Life, and the Super-Gang - It has been a really really long time since I last updated my web page like maybe three years now. I thought after so long it was about time I get back on to my site and make a few updates. I would also like to take this time to say hi to all my friends and fans who I miss very much. I get lots of messages and fan mail from all around the world asking me about my page and what i'm going to do today. I would like to answer each and every one but I have not had the time and i have not had the computer that I used to so i don't get on very much. But hello to everybody! I love you all!

My new updates include buttons at the top and some new links. My web page is made from a web template that Justin gave me when he first started Atari7800.com about five years ago. He changed his site style since then to a whole new style a few years ago but I never changed mine to the new style. So some of the links on my page were bad and it looks more like the old Atari7800.com pages than the new ones that are fancy and sleek. I had to change some of the link buttons that no longer work right or go to web pages that Justin no longer supports because the store closed in 2002.

You will also see I made a new link to our new sister site TurboGrafx-16.com. It's a really good page for TurboGrafx, Express, Duo, and Bonk fans. You should go check it out.

I put my new video remix up at the top of my web page. The video is new but its a clip show of my greatest hits and celebrity interviews, so most of what's on the new video isn't new but is about four years old. But its new and its up there and everyone says its insanely great and funny. I hope you like it.

In my personal life things have been good but some things have changed. My health was not good for the past year but now I am doing much better. Also, my Uncle Gary had to move out. Unc fell and broke his hip after Christmas time and my mom said he was now to old to live with me and so she put him in the old peoples home. Now my Aunt Vonnie has moved in with me. She is a lot younger than Uncle Gary and she's a lot nicer too. My mom lets her live with me for free and eat for free and not have to pay for anything as long as she keeps after me and makes sure I eat my dinner and go to work on time and stay out of mischief.

I have some new pictures but I will have to load them later. It was nice being back for a while I hope everything is good in all of your lives too!

    Your Friend Always,

    Joe

It has been too long since I posted here.

Well, I got a new schedule at work...instead of 11-8 it's now 1-10. That's good and bad. At least I have some time to do stuff now.

My wife is going to start babysitting again. She hasn't for a while cause the daddy of the children was jobless and she figured it wasn't right to watch the children and take money that they need to buy food and all while he doesn't have a job. Apparently he does now so that's that.

My step-daughter REALLY enjoys AquaMarine on the FB2. I busted out the 2600 to let her try but she wasn't really into it as much. That wasn't cool, but hey, at least I got her enjoying something Atari!

I haven't played SI in a very long time and I really need to. It's going to be hard to do anything once she starts babysitting again. It's a 3 year old and a 4 or 5 month old...they come here about 9ish....yeah. Considering the 3 year WON'T listen and my wife says we can't discipline her, then she just has to do whatever. (Hey, it's OUR apartment, if she needs a spanking I'll give her one :P). So we just have to raise our voice to her and all. Well, there goes the peace and quite again :(.

Other than that, life is still the same I guess. I haven't bought any Atari games in a while. I decided to complete the N-Gage collection since it has a small library. I really enjoy playing it...don't see why everyone bashes it. Btw, two games I SHOULD be getting today are: Atari Masterpiece Vol 1 AND 2! Atari on the go is two thumbs way up in my book :D
