bfutrel
so... I think the decision was made that I could derive more pleasure in something that let me more actively work with my hands and imagination.. then a toy that would let me make it do this, that or the other thing before getting bored, and putting it away, or destroying it trying to make it better.. to that extent, I know that more than a few of you, have a computer running that's built up from cast off parts. Here here! Legos and dominoes used as building blocks were favorite playthings, along with matchbox/hot wheel cars. Not to mention building card houses from movie trading cards (Planet of the Apes, James Bond, Star Trek: The Movie). If only I knew then what I know now - I really messed up those cards by doing that. My computer is built from cast off/new parts. At least the PC is - the Macs are a different story. BeerGnome
My computer is built from cast off/new parts. At least the PC is - the Macs are a different story. I would have more/use more macs if they simply made more and better swappable components.. as it is.. I own two macs.. and one of them is a M0001 original.. It has no reasonable usability other than as a curiosity for the visitors... it still runs like a champ might I add..

SINGLE TOOTH
I thought so too.. I didn't have the cash and Goodwill doesn't hold stuff anymore, so I had to call my dad and ask him to come and borrow me money. Luckily he did. I almost didn't go to Goodwill today, but I had that gut feeling. Walked in and saw the bliss. What would you guys think this is worth? Just started collecting NES again. RickHarrisMaine
went to a goodwill last night and passed on an almost complete NES.. they only wanted $5.99 for it, which ordinarily would be worth a shot, but I would have had to have touched the thing. It looked like it just passed through a colon.....

He's moving and doesn't have time for old games, and he knows I'm a collector (to use a dirty word). He's a good friend. I've been looking for a (cheaper than eBay) copy of Super Metroid for a long time. Edited September 28, 2007 by MFoolsRun

Zwackery
oh yeah, and 115 Atari 2600 carts for 40 bucks Not bad. Sort through them yet? Yeah, mostly common Atari brand games, a few duplicates of course, but a wide variety of titles, with some Atari Corp. releases mixed in ('87 releases of Galaxian, Kangaroo, Moon Patrol, and Ms. Pac-Man, with an '85 Berzerk, which I had never seen before) and a smattering of 3rd party (Parker Bros., Activision, Imagic, M Network) rounding out the bunch. There was a blue label Pitfall! in there, which I didn't have. The guys at the shop were quite happy to see me take the whole pile, and they also searched for a couple of broken 2600 consoles which had come in; they couldn't find those, but said they would hang on to them for me when they were located (hopefully with joysticks, power supplies, and anything else shuffled off as "junk"). A nice find for sure ! It's likely though that it has been picked through. With that number of carts I'd expect at least several ER's and possibly a run of rarities from a single software company. It's sort of an "odds" thing when you get into that many carts. I forget where it's posted, possibly one of the old RGVAC FAQ's, but someone once did a run down of how many ER's, R's, etc you could expect out of every 100 carts or so....(I can't remember the figures off hand )
