Three-R-Math System 20133 (pt 1)

Three-R-Math.Student Disk (1982)(APX)(US)[disk]

I recorded this a couple of times and came up with the same, unalterable errors.  Even the option for -p does not change them.  The disk loads and seems to work correctly. So here we are.

Data goes only from track 0-18 plus the directory on track 19.

The unformatted tracks are 25-39.

This is probably only a mastering error or bit-rot.

APX usually did format all tracks on their disks contrary to some other publishers which quite often formatted only the needed tracks on their disks.

Analog #50

  1. MAGIC1.BAS from Reader's Comments modifies Magic Spell from issue #46 for faster loading of spelling words.
  2. MAGIC2.BAS and MAGIC3.BAS From Reader's Comments modifies Magic Spell from issue #46 for XL/XE compatibility.
  3. ADBFIX.BAS from Reader's Comments is an enhancement for the Analog Computing Database program from issue #47
  4. KRAZYKAT.BAS holds the ML for the game Krazy Katerpillars.  KRAZYCAS.LST is entered into KRAZYKAT.BAS to create the cassette version of the game. A CAS and an ATR from that CAS are included.  The MAC/65 assembly listing compiles into a complete and working game.

Analog #51

  1. TABLETY1.BAS is missing the last line shown in the magazine.  The line does look erroneous for the simple fact that it does not have a line number.
  2. The 4 MAC/65 files for Slither compile into a complete and working game. If you compile under SDX, you will end up with a garbage disk, so only compile under Atari DOS. It does not load under SDX using the "X" command, but it does load under the Atari DOS "L" command and it also loads using a 3 sector boot disk.
  3. The 5 MAC/65 files for BBKMON compile into a complete and working program.  It does not load under SDX, but does under the Atari "L" command.

Analog #52

  1. FORTUNE.LST from Reader's Comments is an enhancement to the Fortune Wheel game from issue #49.
  2. RAMBUG.M65 does not compile.  It requires SHOW.M65 and I cannot find it in the magazine.  I found a working OBJ and it is included.
  3. EOLCNVRT.BAS converts the ASCII CR/LF to an ATASCII 155 while printing to a printer.  It was in the Delphi Article.

BackTalk 1.2 (1986)(Antic Software)(US)[disk]

I recorded it 3 times.  Each time the bad sectors are the same. The -p option does nothing.

Did Antic use copy protection?

  2. CHCKWRT2.LST from Reader's Comments is a modification to Check Writer from issue #53.
  3. FASTSETS.BAS is the complete program. FASTSETL.BAS is the program that adds lines 5030 and 32010-32050. These lines are already in the FASTSETS.BAS.
  4. FASTLIF1.M65 and FASTLIF2.M65 (rename FASTLIF2.M65 to FLIFE2.M65 before compiling) compile into a complete and working game of Life in the Fast Lane.
  5. TABLETYP.LST from the Delphi Article is a modification to Tablet Typist from issue #51. It makes the program Sparta DOS compatible.

Analog #57

  1. CHECKBOO.LST from Reader's Comments is a correction for the Checkbook module of Micro Check from issue #27
  2. REPORT3.LST from Reader's Comments is a correction for listing 3 of the Report program for Micro Check from issue #53.
  3. REPORT5.LST from Reader's Comments is a correction for listing 5 of the report program for Micro Check from issue #53.
  4. HTDEMOPML.BAS from Reader's Comments creates the machine language lines that is entered into HTPKRDMO.BAS to make a complete program
  5. INTBASIC.BAS from Reader's Comments fixes an error with programs on the 8-bit Extra disks.
  6. The MAC/65 listing for Troll War II is missing TROLL16.M65 to complete the program.  This section of the assembly listing is in the next issue. Since this disk is non-original, I brought that last part over to this issue and compiled it into a complete and working game.  As a result of all the files being together, the second disk is not a boot disk and only has the Troll War II files on it.

Issue #35 (Disk 1 Sourced from A8SP)

  1. BONK.BAS creates a file or a cassette version of the game. The CAS and an ATR from that CAS are included.  The Mac/65 listing compiles into a working game.

The source code seems to assemble into an only partially working game.

@tsom fixed it here. Perhaps you can update your disk image above.

I just compiled BONK.M65 from the Analog disk image I posted using MAC/65 v1.02 and it does compile into a complete and working game, including wall and monster collisions.  Maybe not using MAC/65 is causing the problems you are seeing.  Or maybe it is the DOS that is the culprit.

Here is an ATR with the MAC/65 file and the obj I just compiled.  Boot it without basic and use the Atari DOS 2.5 "L" command.

Side 1 recorded clean, but I was not able to get a clean recording of the "backup copy".  I have included two failed attempts.
