What Atari 2600/7800 game have you been playing the most today?

Yeah Activision did a cheeky little trick of just making the left hand side a solid black vertical line in their games, so the black horizontal lines, or I believe people call it 'the comb' are not visable.

It does make it appear as if the game is off centre, but it's a neat trick to hide the distracting lines. It's just a smaller play area with no graphics drawn in the black vertical stripe down the left.

Ha! I never heard that expression before “The Comb” that’s good!

I like it too.

I am not sure which solution I think is better, ignore the issue and get the comb, or have an off centre appearance. I think it's probably a take it game by game solution.

With some games the comb can be annoying when it's glitching around a lot, in others I don't mind it. I think it could have worked OK in Asteroids as so much is going on, but I am guessing that they tested it and found it distracting showing stripes over the asteroids. Perhaps it was a technical issue, maybe the black line having no graphics drawn in there in buys you some time with the CPU.

Someone may know more about this, there’s lots of super techie people on here when it comes to Atari programming.

LOOK WHAT I FOUND!👀👀👀

I had a small box with some loose cartridges in it which I thought were all duplicates. Turns out this one wasn’t. Got mixed up with my dupes!

I’m going golfing today boys and girls! The weathers fine and I’m making time!

Ha ha! Good or should I put it back in the box I found it in? I actually started getting the hang of it towards the end.

I hated it, then I RTFM and I liked it. It's the most unintuitive sport game I've ever played, but get past the control difficulties and it's a fun game.

It’s a keeper! Too bad bowling wasn’t in the box also! Lol

FLASH AH-ah SAVIOUR OF THE UNIVERSE!

FLASH GORDON is what I’m playing today on my ATARI 2600+.

I never owned this game until recently. This is a great game fast paced but fun! Right now I can only make it to the second level. It’s tough!

This game has a pause feature. COLOR/BW switch.

THE OBJECTIVE: Many dedicated Spacemen have entered Spider City but none has
ever been heard from again. It is up to you, Flash Gordon, to rescue any
surviving Spacemen and to conquer this hideous city of tunnels. Spider City
is conquered when all of its Hatching Pods are eliminated. It doesn't hurt
to blast a few Generators or enemy Patrol Ships while you're there.

On 2600+? Legit only Commando 2600, i cant go wrong with it!

But in general i'd say i've grown a hell-of-a fondness for the 2600 version of Kung Fu Master, it sucks that you cant do jump kicks afaik and when the guys grab you, but i really like it, its an official beat em up conversion that actually seemed like a good fit for 2600 and, it was!

Gotta get that cart though!

I recently went to my local retrogaming store and bought the 2600 versions of Pole Position (with manual) and Donkey Kong for a total of $10.  I had only ever played Pole Position II back in the day on the 7800, but the 2600 version is pretty good.  I know Donkey Kong gets crapped on a lot but it's still pretty fun.... just gets boring kind of quickly, and going up and down the ladders is a little finicky.

HAVE YOU PLAYED ATARI TODAY!

FAST FOOD is the game today!

1 or 2 - Player Game. This could be a fun party game.

I can’t put this on the RTFM Thread cause there ain’t no instructions Lol!

All you have to do is eat food and avoid the purple pickles!

You do have to watch your calories though, the foods with higher calories are worth more points.

IT’s MICK JAGGER!      IF YOU START ME UP!
