moycon
Let me ask this question again.. because it confuses me. What's the point of "challenges" or high scores when in so many of the games you can rewind? You can't use the rewind in ranked matches and you can't send a challenge in anything but a ranked match. +Zeptari
Next week's games: Intellivision - Baseball, Atari 2600 - Circus Atari, River Raid 2, Sky Jinks, Arcade - Video Hustle When do the good games come out? off the top of my head i'd like to see Omega Race...that game was pretty cool... -rick
moycon
off the top of my head i'd like to see Omega Race...that game was pretty cool... I'd get that. I'd like to see Bosconian. Loved that game as a kid. Maybe the arcade version of Phoenix and maybe Pleiades. They really aren't releasing much I'm interested in. I hadn't heard of Mr. Goemon before so I demo'd it. Needless to say, I won't be buying it.
Atariboy
They might not always be winners (Such as this upcoming Video Hustler from Konami which is average at best), but I hope they keep them coming and other publishers follow Konami's lead and start bringing more obscure games that haven't been done to death in compilations and rereleases to the service. Konami's bound to have a few gems that we'll hopefully be seeing the arcade version at home for the first time through this service. I imagine you already knew this Moycon and just want a downloadable version of it for the convenience factor, but Bosconian is already available on the 360 in the Namco compilation. I hope Activision starts rereleasing their Intellivision lineup. I would be interested in buying a few of those since I've always hated the Intellivision controller and have trouble enjoying their games like River Raid on the real thing. Not really interested in their 2600 releases beyond Enduro and River Raid. Like most here, I already have all their 2600 games and also several compilations so I'll just be buying my two favorites. Yeah I actually did know that but avoided the disk because of the lack of achievements, and it's available on one of those joysticks you can connect to the TV (I almost bought that but heard the control was a bit off) Still (and Zeptari will confirm) I'm the guy that will load this up and send challenges peoples way and have fun with these old games, competing with others who share a fondness for them. It's for that reason alone I'd buy the game in Game Room. For the competition! I agree with you in that I hope more obscure games come our way. Even though I wasn't impressed with Mr. Goemon, I was very glad to see it. I had never heard of Mega Zone before Game Room and I think that game kicks ass and of course bought it!!! Bring em on. cimerians
Well, I must say that the leaderboards and face offs is what makes the gameroom great. Prices, controls and emulation still suck. I wish Microsoft just builds a 2600 joystick & paddle and be done with it. I just grabbed my first two games Tut and River Raid. They seem to be playable with the 360 controller. I tried Megamania (a personal fav) but it was way too slow, I may still get it but I could literaly flip that game on a real 2600. I think maybe they slow some games down on purpose because we don't have actual controls. Anyway I sent off a few challenges...

I want to fill my friends leaderboard! -rick aka Zeptari on live this will never happen... but i'd love to see donkey kong! and i'd also like to see super pac-man..... but the 360's dpad will kill the gameplay of that one... but i'm a sucker... i'd still buy it... I will be getting Time Pilot as thats definitely playable. I saw you had over 100,000...or was that someone else....
Jess Ragan
Wait, what? MegaZone is in the Game Room now? Is it well emulated? I think I have some spare Microsoft points and now that my Xbox 360 is working again, I might be willing to part with some of them for this game. This weird shooter always caught my eye in arcades, and the fact that it's available now opens the door to other Konami obscurities, especially Pandora's Palace. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I could swear that I read (maybe a year or so ago) that MS released a different controller that had a redesigned D-pad that was much better than the current model. I thought that this controller was released for E3 (or some other such event, like maybe the Halo ODST Limited Edition controller) or only in Europe or something like that. I dunno, maybe I'm more senile than I think, but I could swear I once read something about a 360 controller with a redesigned D-pad. cimerians
Riveraid is pissing me off, mainly cause I couldnt beat Moycon's 25k+ score. I know I could score better if I had an Atari joystick.... still fun though. Anyone can tell me why purchase games like Adventure? It's my favorite Atari game but I cant spend the money on something that doesnt have a score ranking or anything else to feature. Is it just for the sake of having it? moycon
Riveraid is pissing me off, mainly cause I couldnt beat Moycon's 25k+ score. You're going to be very sad to see my second try score. Still, I say we're even.... you creamed me at Tutankan!! I will admit the controller isn't the best for all these old games. Too sensitive or something. I often overshoot where I want to move to, and in the narrows, that's not a good thing!!! I can't comment on Mega Zone emulation Jess. I never played the actual game. Fire up the Game Room and try the demo. I really like that game.

Mendon It's been rumored before but I don't believe it because it's never been seen in any controllers since then. It doesn't make sense to release a fixed controller in a limited fashion. It would be like Nintendo only releasing the the WiiMotion Plus in Europe but nowhere else.

Oh just great....I got close to about 23,000. Now what? Yeah, I'm ok at Tut but its almost impossible to get passed some of those creatures without sheer luck sometimes. I just grabbed Millipede (arcade version) last night even though I stink at it. I just don't see that game crop up too often. Here I go, I told myself I wasn't going to spend on these pricey games and questionable emulation. I think its the damn records and rankings. I'm a little over 100,000 in time pilot..... it's alot more playable then river raid. that damn d-pad! Which is to bad... river raid was the game i was most looking forward to playing in game room. I'm sooooo tempted to get one of those arcade sticks for my 360... i think moycon tried his arcade stick and siad his scores didn't improve much... i still wanna try is myself.... HammR25
My arcade stick didn't improve River Raid much at all. I'm not sure why but I prefer the Xbox controller with XBL Time Pilot as well, maybe because I'm just used to it.

Those guys are freaks. I gave up on river raid, I used to get around 48,000 and more on a real Atari. Congrats on that one Moycon.

I was telling Zeptari, I used to get 75k+ on River Raid back in the day. 75k would be a bad game!!! I use the thumb stick while playing it. It takes a bit to get used to, but using the D-pad it's unplayable. Don't give up! I need my 20 challenge wins achievement!

StormSurge
Why do they even bother releasing paddle games? I LOVE Circus Atari but I tried the demo & it's unplayable.
cimerians
Why do they even bother releasing paddle games? I LOVE Circus Atari but I tried the demo & it's unplayable. Me and everyone that watched me try the demo agreed. I actually thought the same thing, "Why are paddle games on here? This is completely unplayable." I exited out and went on to another game.... Sad cause on a real 2600 with paddles its one of the funnest games around. Like Kaboom and Super Breakout. Warlords is coming out soon. Warlords required total accuracy with a paddle. In my opinion its going to be pretty bad.

I kept crashing into the river "walls" with the d-pad too much. Oh, I'll get back to River Raid and try to beat your score. When I get frustrated I tend to leave the game for a while before I get back to it. Still can't wait for HERO. Come on!!

moycon
Black Widow that was a vector game wasn't it? You know I would always see that game in the arcades, but never played it. Anyone know if it's any good? Also interested in Utopia. I had that game on cart at one time, but couldn't play it. It was for the Aquarius system...but I didn't have an Aquarius and never had the Intellivision version. Anyone play that game? Never heard of Scooter Shooter and can't really find much info on it.
