Assuming all goes according to plan, Turtles and I plan to be down that way for that weekend. . .

Well, just so you know, I was probably not going to be able to make it as I am teaching that week in Alaska.  Once I heard y'all would be there, I upended the entire University of Arkansas system to get me back in time.

Hopefully, someday there is proper retro festival in Canada that other ti99ers attend as well, as I can't attend any of these state side shows until after year 2033.

If anyone wants to fill out their black label collection or their collection of shells.

the same seller had a few other bundles of TI99 cartridges, they all sold soon after this one as well, most likely to the same person -- someone is building up their collection, most likely for the 'shells' themselves.

Yeah, I put in an offer on the color labels for about $1.50 each ($.90 each for the black labels is rather fantastic.)  Looks like I won my offer.  Fear not, they will go to go use.  I plan to give some away at VCF.

I got most of those, that E/A cartridge is the most added bonus in that run to me. But a lot of them would make good cartridge shells for the good stuff.

I had not thought about that.  I would like to get my hands on a couple of E/A carts to make SuperCarts for the fun of it.  I have a 32k SuperSpace II, but the CRU bank switching is not universal.  Although, assembling one version of something to test on it then another version with regular bank switching is not too much of a hassle.  Of course, any more the FG99 provides an excellent prototyping platform.

I think I just talked myself out of it.

My hunch is this was made in the 1960s to print manufacturing line data. I guess it counted electrical pulses from the back terminals.

In 1961, TI needed real-time charts of how many transistors were falling automatic  testing.  The Geophysical and Instrumentation Division invented countless machines to automate the production line. (Mike Bunyard got his start there.)

See Ed Millis' book: TI, the Transistor, and Me: My Dis-integrated Journey Through Texas Instruments. (It has very funny stories too.)

not bad if it stays at that price, and shipping around $30 more usd to canada.

good thing it is not that apple ii game disc, it is over $4,500 on ebay so far, just for one floppy in plastic baggie with the index card insert.

You can just make out the ribbon cable in the first picture, on the back.  It's an external drive for the PEB drive controller.

or side car controller.. there are many of these.. check the FAQ if you aren't familiar ;)

eBay's automatic "Inspired by your recent views":

What I actually viewed: Texas Instruments Color Graphics Board RARE

image.thumb.jpeg.fab62f090ce5ffbad4aa1bae0dfe2ed1.jpeg

What it said I should look at:  Cray X-MP Memory Board

       image.thumb.png.05230a4361f76afb9e5a5e75b795e6a7.png

The Color Graphics Controller Board works with TIPC or IBM PC.

It is based on a TMS34061 display controller with 256KB of VRAM.  (4 banks of 8 TMS4161 64Kbit dual-port).

The output is 1024 x 512 display in 4-bit color.

The DE-9 port is for an EGA monitor - digital output in 8 colors.  A 2nd version of this board would have a TMS34070 palette chip, providing analog output with 16 colors per row (18-bits per color).

I thought of it as an evaluation board.   Wonder if any TIPC software drove it.

The Cray X-MP Memory Board works with... a Cray X-MP.

See those QUAD INLINE PIN chips?  Those are MECL-to-TTL translators, to isolate noisy TTL circuits.  MC10125 type.  MECL is a differential signal with + and - traces (like USB D+ D-).

RAM is MCM6287L-35. Fast 35ns access time, 64Kbit each.   Total 256K x 9 (parity).

Truth be told, there was a Tic-Tac-Toe for the '99 back in the day - with a schematic to build a light pen for the joystick port.  The device registered light (the CRT, at very close range, like with the "pen" pressed to the screen) and if it detected a few flashes "in tune" with the software, it selected the square from 9 flashing positions.

Very ordinary.  Mine worked.  I used it a couple of times.

My Playstation1 "gun", with the total of 2 games that used it, was quite a lot better when used with a real CRT.  I still have that one, but sadly, no CRT.
