I finished the Arcade Origins timeline but it shows 99%.  Not sure what I missed as I completed everything.  I went back through trying to see if there was something I passed over.  Did anyone else have this happen?

While Im very appreciative of the Atari 50 compilation, I agree that some of the choices were a bit odd. As I mentioned previously Blue Max and Star Raiders 2 were omitted from the 8 bit era, yet they included 2 versions of Miner 2049er (from 5200 and 8 bit). Also as far as 2600, I think it would have been better served to omit the 2 Swordquest games and include more pick up and play "fun" games like Bowling, Indy 500, Night Driver or Circus Atari.

It just comes down to rights.   Somehow they got the rights to the Big Five games, so that's why we got both Miner games.   Blue Max was Synapse?  I think, not sure who owns the rights now.     I would think Atari has the rights to Star Raiders II,  but since that game started out as "Last Starfighter", a movie tie-in game there may be some remnants of the movie IP left in the game making the rights not free and clear?

Maybe they didn't realize Bowling was a big game, it looks so bad, but I played that game sort of like how I played Wii Sports back in the day, meaning a lot because it is zen-like casual fun. Night Driver and Circus are the two strangest omissions since they are both big games for Atari and can be included, although it sounds like the VCS version will be getting Circus Atari as a bonus (based on a post in the Atari Discord).

Do they mention when that will be?

I don't think they really know at this point, but no, just that they'll let people know when it is ready. There was a delay in the VCS (Linux) build process, someone had something like a real life emergency and the final work couldn't get done in time. My - guess - is not this week because of Thanksgiving, but maybe end of next week?

Don't forget to "zoom" on each game; playing them doesn't count for some reason.

Why do I need so many variations of the same games on here?

I'm going to play the best versions.

Yes, i had 2600 Crystal Castles as a kid at the time got a lot from it, but at that point, it was the only version I had ever played, knew no different, not going to play it now, it just holds nostalgia value.

For some games I wonder why certain versions are included like 800 food fight. But overall I like seeing different versions like multiple versions of missle command and asteroids. Basketbrawl versions are very different so I like seeing both. Same with scrapyard dog. I wish the jaguar version of breakout was on here though I guess it's not owned my Atari.

At least they didn't bother to include that horrible tempest 2600 prototype.

I zoomed in on all the pictures.  That's weird that playing a game doesn't count.  Do you have to zoom in on the game you're playing?  I'll have to go back and zoom in on the games again.  Hopefully then I get 100%.

After every new picture or video you look at you will hear a sound and see a little animation. Also until you view something you'll see a black icon that will turn white after viewing. It'd pretty subtle. I had to go over a few sections to get 100 but it's easier when you know the icon to look for.

Also, as an aside I find that zooming doesn't always go far enough like for Lynx manuals.

Right.  I hear the sound play and the little animation appears.  Also, I've noticed the black icon turns white after viewing.  I'll have to go through to see what I missed because I thought I did everything but apparently not.  I went over it once already and it looks like I did it all.  But again, a second time is needed just to be sure.

It is in fact owned by Atari, it was only published by Telegames. (Maybe Telegames would have needed to get royalties?)

I'm surprised Space War 2000 didn't show up as it is listed in Atari's IP catalogue.

overall it seems like a well rounded package and an excellent chunk of Atari history. I'm ready for the VCS release already!

One of the big things for this collection is the brand new game Swordquest: Airworld, and you do not think they should have included all of the Swordquest games? That would make no sense.

One thing I did notice with the collection is that they tried to keep entire series intact if possible. Hence the entire Realsports lineup is here even the prototype despite my overall lack of interest in the series. Swordquest makes sense to include the whole series even if not your thing for the historical significance and cause of the new version.  There's tempest and 2000, asteroids and deluxe and space duel.  Combat 1 and 2 to go with the new version despite not having the original tank.

It's not like they could only fit so many games so generally games weren't omitted due to the inclusion of others. However, I feel like they did try to tone down the number of 2600 games included probably due to the both the timeline format and the fact that 2600 games have been released so many times already.

The Swordquest games... I've tried playing them a few times, and the impression I still have is "this is really only worth playing if you're trying to win $$$$."

I mean, I could be wrong, but it seems like they amount to "endlessly cycle item drops between rooms to get codes, use the codes to find words in a comic" -- there isn't much GAME to them, really.

I found what I missed in the Arcade Origin timeline.  Now I have 100%.  Also, in the PC timeline, you can't play the PC version of Star Raiders.  That's a shame.  When you click on the game in that timeline, it's just the 5200 version.  It's weird because they show the box art of the PC version.

Thanks for the list.  It's a nice reference for the differences in content between the collection. I made some adjustments where I saw inaccuracies.

+ addition

* should be taken off list

No updates yet.  The guy responsible for Linux coding had a personal emergency and was not available for about a month.  He is back now and the game is in testing.  Shouldn't be that much longer.

Thanks! Due to an inability to Edit the post, I'll post up an updated list. Swordquest: Fireworld, though, is on both the 50th and Classics. Thanks everyone for helping to get this list more accurate:

Wow what a disappointment to still not have Atari 50 released on the VCS. I understand there are emergencies but the other consoles have the game.
