@DavidD I've had my desk buddy for years now (NGM) and for the longest time it was not hackable, or if you did it, it seemingly made the joystick or buttons foul up.  I did read about a year ago someone (may be the same person) did successfully hack the thing and added a better/more selection of MVS titles to it.  I don't know if it's risky or overly complicated but it was cracked.

@negative1 I had that SF2 that didn't work right, shame the new one is not the arcade, but how do you surely find out if you have the 1.1 vs 1.0 broken SF2CE?

for street fighter 2, either the old stock is gone.

but you would have to open it up to check:

I think the easiest way is the color of the buttons. I'm pretty sure I have the non-1.1 version (which makes me very angry since I guess there's no way to update) because they changed the button colors to red, white, and blue on the 1.1 and mine starts with white.

(EDIT: I just did the kick check, and yep, it definitely is the old model.)

I've ordered as many of the micro players as I can without getting shown the front door 🚪 of my house by my Wife.

I already received the Space Invaders pro pocket player,it does have a nice screen and I'm waiting on the Space Invaders micro player and a couple others.

Too much game overlap with some previous releases, especially Ms. and regular Pacman.

Tetris and Megaman have not been done in any form by My Arcade, so that's ok.

I'm not a big Street Fighter or Meg Man fan however.

I have always liked the looks of their Micro players, and I'm most looking forward to the Atari 50 one.

Japan has the right idea for these minis.  Quality finger exercise on the way.

Well good they're doing it, and with the official tunes and mapping because the Tiny Arcade DDR my kid has now is a piece of crap.  It actually runs ok I guess, but the songs are too slow with zero challenge.

I wonder about the playlist, though.

Not announced yet, I'm digging through their pages, and I can translate this piece of somewhat useful info: The design is based off the DDR1-3Mix arcade machines, and all three machines stickers and music will be of its selection choices, but the finalized specific tracks from each of the 3 DDR games (DDR, DDR2nd Mix, DDR3rd Mix) has not been finalized yet so it can't be shared.  At this rate, look up the original Japanese arcade cabinet tracks and hope for the best.

Also from this it looks like it's still in planning, not a finalized to be 100% surely released project even.

I never was a huge fan, I can't for the life of me dance on those mats, but I think in this format it could be more fun as I use to mess with it some on the controller and I could handle despite my loathing of rhythm games do pretty well on easy/medium levels but hard...ugh.

Great to know the differences, which aren't many on the Pocket Player Pros.

The micro player pros screen and packaging are different enough for me to purchase those, but I don't want the repeats of the Pocket Players.

Wow that one is actually really really tempting.  I can't finish that game anymore, but given how hard it is, it's not exactly ever unfair either (other than debatably that second loop for the true ending.)  You would get your moneys worth out of this one far more than some laserdisc, fighting game, or some shooter though 1943 was pretty tight.

They already have an arcade perfect port of Frogger to the Genesis too. But Street Fighter II not using the arcade version is a bummer.

The level layout is completely different after stage 5 and the game doesn't have two snakes at once like the arcade version. It looks the part, but it's definitely not arcade perfect.

Basic Fun had a NES on a chip based Frogger mini tabletop. AFAIK, it's the Majesco NES on a chip Frogger with the music even more altered from the arcade. Port wise, it's ok, but missing some of the arcade tricks like riding on the snake's tail.
