Hm. There is Super Drift Out: World Rally Championships which was Japan exclusive, but it is a 2D game, not isometric. Also that game doesn't seem to have any shop mode, which makes it even less obvious what you actually played.

I went through this (possibly incomplete) list on Wikipedia and tried to run the SFC exclusive games through image/video search but didn't find any better match. While it probably was not Super Drift Out that you played, I'm listing it as such for the time being and if you figure out what it was, I can correct it later.

The game in question is Zen-Nihon GT Senshuken.  Definitely give it a go if you have never played it.  It isn't the best Drift Out style game, but it was a good solid title I thought even though I don't understand a lick of Japanese.

Tested a few things on the Analogue Pocket. Didn't really keep track, but here are some estimates. Unfortunately the d-pad on the Pocket is irredeemable shit, so don't even bother playing anything that needs a d-pad that actually functions at a level that most normal humans would consider acceptable, which is pretty much anything.

Genesis/MD

Slap Fight MD - 2

Sonic 3 & Knuckles - 3

SFC/SNES

Super Metroid - 5

Neo Geo AES/MVS

Garou: Mark of the Wolves - 3

Real Bout Fatal Fury Special - 3

I also finally found this today

but didn't get a chance to play it since I need to finish setting up the Astro to play it, but expect to see a decent amount of this next week. Yeah, you know exactly what this is.

Atari 8-bit:
Cacorm - 21 min.
Centipede - 15 min.

Intellivision:
Bank Panic - 7 min.
Choplifter - 2 min.
Maria - 2 min.
Montezuma's Revenge - 3 min.

In the A8 HSC, I just noticed that the stage/level counter doesn't reset when you begin a new game in Cacorm, so not so playable for high scores. Also I loaded our club's LTO Flash! with some of the most recent homebrews that I have access to, and played a few just to verify everything is alright. It will go into the gaming area on Saturday.

Here are my times for this past week (September 26th through October 2nd, 2022) on classic systems:

Arcade:

Bomb Jack - 55 min. in 2 sessions

Ikari Warriors - 57 min. in 2 sessions

Nintendo Game & Watch:

Mario's Cement Factory - 1 min.

No Jr. Pac-Man for me this week... for a change, I tried "Bomb Jack" after watching a video about the upcoming new Atari 2600 version. Strangely, the very first game in each session yielded the best score, with all previous games faring worse. I can't quite explain why that is, I thought I'd get better with time, but I never did.

Then I played Ikari Warriors... there was one session where I played multiple games, and another where I tried to get as far as possible using continues. Sadly, I forgot to press Fire and Start at the same time after about 24 minutes, which ruined the game.

Finally, I played Mario's Cement Factory for a minute before deciding that's not really what I wanted to do and abandoning the game prematurely.

Amiga

Sensible World of Soccer 2020 280

Intellivision

Beauty and the Beast 62

Thin Ice 59

***Ineligible (but retro related)***

PC

Sensible World of Soccer 2020 433

X360

Sensible World of Soccer 226

XOne

Let's Build a Zoo 130

I spread out my Sensible World of Soccer (aka SWOS) time across 3 platforms.  I discovered that the Windows version of SWOS 2020 lets you pick between DOS and Amiga, so there's really no reason to play in Win UAE ever again, but I have a career going in that version that I wanted to extend a bit.  Let's Build a Zoo is retro 'related' in that it is very similar to Theme Park by Bullfrog released on the Amiga all those years ago.

This week I played:

Pokemon Yellow Version for Game Boy - 838 minutes

Progress:

I finally have the Pokedex at 129 - the maximum amount you can get in the game without trading with another file or using glitches. Next time I will start a new file get more of the Pokemon you only receive once to trade to this main file.

Here's the summary for Week 39, running from September 26 - October 2. We logged 3688 minutes of eligible play, playing 68 games on a total of 22 systems.

Top 10:

1. Pokemon Yellow Version (Game Boy) - 838 min.
2. Sensible World of Soccer 2020 (Amiga) - 280 min. (#1)
3. Ms. Pac-Man (Tengen) (NES/Famicom) - 265 min. (#6)
4. Solar Fox (Atari 2600) - 197 min. (#2)
5. Poltergeist (CoCo 1 & 2) - 140 min.
6. Venture Reloaded (Atari 2600) - 128 min. (#8)
7. F-1 ROC II: Race of Champions (SNES) - 120 min.
8. Legacy of the Wizard (NES/Famicom) - 95 min.
9. NFL 2K1 (Dreamcast) - 90 min.
10. Galaxian (Atari 8-bit) - 80 min.

Pre-NES top 10:

1. Solar Fox (Atari 2600) - 197 min. (PN#1)
2. Poltergeist (CoCo 1 & 2) - 140 min.
3. Venture Reloaded (Atari 2600) - 128 min. (PN#4)

7. Dreamcast - 160 min.
8. Atari 8-bit - 146 min. (#4)
9. Intellivision - 135 min.
10. SNES - 125 min.

Pokemon Yellow Version is back with numbers so high nobody should miss it. Not only is it the most played game, on its own it has enough minutes to win the systems category (though Borruga helped a little too). On the pre-NES front, yet again Solar Fox is #1, almost an hour ahead of Poltergeist.

No changes to the 1000, 5000, 10000 Minute Clubs, though on the all-time stats, Pokemon Yellow moves ahead Pokemon Blue and another six games into all-time #23. It means all three of Pokemon Red, Yellow and Blue on the Game Boy now are part of the overall top 25.

Atari 2600: 8 entries

PlayStation: 4 entries

Game Boy: 3 entries

PC DOS: 2 entries

SNES: 2 entries

Atari 7800: 1 entry

Here are my times for this past week (October 3rd through 9th)...

Arcade:

Ikari Warriors - 90 min. in 3 sessions

Atari 2600:

Ikari Warriors - 9 min.

My game of choice was Ikari Warriors this week. In the arcade version, I actually played a session where I tried to get as far as I could using continues, but once you're on the red carpet, you can't continue anymore once the game is over.

I also briefly tried to play the Atari 2600 version, but it's very different to the original... like in Commando, the playfield is strictly divided into horizontal zones, and each zone contains exactly one enemy which never leaves it, which is not at all like in the original version. Actually, when it comes to Commando-like games for the 2600, I like Front Line best, because although it's got a lower resolution, the graphics are more colorful in places, and the enemies are not confined to their zones, but seem to run around rather freely, like they tend to do in real life. In the original version of Ikari Warriors, without using continues, I made it past the end of the first bridge, that's when you get the first mines which get automatically hit by a big bomb and then explode... I think this happens about 18-20% into the game.

Amiga:
Lotus III - 4 min.

NES:
Section Z - 3 min.

Pong:
Atari Hockey-Pong - 5 min.

Uh, is this the place where you report your weekly gaming times? Good, then I'm in the right place. Yes, it is ironic that the week you're making the final planning and running a retro gaming event with 700+ visitors, you find nearly zero time to play any games. No A8 HSC this week no matter how much I would have liked to play. Instead it was a few minutes here and there testing a few of the 20+ systems we set up for the event.
