2. King's Field (PlayStation) - 857 min.
3. Shark! Shark! (Intellivision) - 506 min.
4. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - 493 min. (#1)
5. Jumping Joey (CoCo 1 & 2) - 371 min. (#10)

8. Slap Fight MD (Genesis) - 187 min.

Pre-NES top 10:

1. Shark! Shark! (Intellivision) - 506 min.
2. Jumping Joey (CoCo 1 & 2) - 371 min. (PN#5)
3. Solar Fox (Atari 2600) - 275 min. (PN#2)

3. N64 - 790 min. (#1)
4. Atari 2600 - 511 min. (#2)
5. Arcade - 398 min. (#9)
6. CoCo 1 & 2 - 371 min.
7. NES/Famicom - 285 min. (#3)
8. Genesis - 238 min. (#6)
9. Vectrex - 205 min.
10. Epoch Super Cassette Vision - 175 min.

King's Field on the PlayStation does the double win, by plenty margin down to the leading pre-NES game Shark! Shark!, which on its own list is 2h15m ahead of the combined entry for Jumping Joey. Generally a lot of playing this week, many systems including block busters like Super Cassette Vision, RCA Studio II and Bally Astrocade, but this time without some oddball systems like the Commodore 64.

Despite 102 games played, none breaks the 1000, 5000, 10000 minute barriers. However for the year we have played exactly 2000 different games, which equals 18% of all entries in the tracker.

I played the following this week-

RCA Studio ii:

Scramble (home brew)-35 minutes

Kaboom (home brew)-20 minutes

Bally Astrocade:

Pirate’s Chase-30 minutes

The Incredible Wizard-10 minutes

SG-1000:

Wonder Boy-25 minutes

Super Cassette Vision:

Astro Wars-20 minutes

Astro Wars ii: Battle in Galaxy-20 minutes

Ton Ton Ball-30 minutes

Nebula-25 minutes

Lupin iii-20 minutes

Star Speeder-10 minutes

Dragon Ball: Dragon Daihikyō-25 minutes

Wai Wai Monster Land-25 minutes

Atari 7800:

Sirius-10 minutes

Dragon’s Descent-40 minutes

Scramble-10 minutes

Rip-off-10 minutes

I rounded play times off to the closest 5 minute interval because I wasn’t super consistent in timing play. I often either started timing late or was interrupted mid-play and didn’t play the whole time the timer was running so I thought rounding made sense.

Welcome to the time tracking thread(s)!  I think that is 2 new posters in the same month.  Never seen that before.

Isn't that a tautology? From what I understand, the Street Fighter series had Alpha in the West and Zero in Japan. Multiple titles were already tracked separately, so I suppose that means the JP version of SF Alpha, a.k.a. SF Zero.

I looked up the game. It uses semi-graphics so it isn't even a case of improved graphics on newer hardware. Thus I decided to combine the two entries.

That is perfectly fine, all kinds of estimates are better than nothing. Welcome aboard and for bringing systems such as the SCV and Studio II back into the tracker (I own both, but haven't played those in a while).

If there was a separation, yes.  Otherwise, for all intents and purposes it's the Japanese version of Street Fighter Alpha.  🙂

For reference, the following variations were tracked regarding the Street Fighter series. As you can see, for some reason the Alpha and Zero versions have been merged on the arcade, but kept apart on the Saturn. Usually there is no obvious reason for this, and a bit late to split up times.

Arcade:
Street Fighter
Street Fighter Alpha - Warrior's Dreams (a.k.a. Zero)
Street Fighter Alpha 2 (a.k.a. Zero 2)
Street Fighter Alpha 3 (a.k.a. Zero 3)
Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
Street Fighter II': Championship Edition
Street Fighter II: The World Warrior
Street Fighter III: Third Strike
Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers

Genesis:
Street Fighter II: Special Championship Edition
Super Street Fighter II

PlayStation:
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3

Sega Saturn:
Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Street Fighter Zero (JP SF Alpha)
Street Fighter Zero 3 (JP SF Alpha 3)
Street Fighter: The Movie
X-Men vs Street Fighter

SNES:
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter II
Street Fighter II Turbo
Super Street Fighter II

Other formats

3DO: Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Amiga: Super Street Fighter II
FM Towns: Super Street Fighter II
Game Boy: Street Fighter II
Game Boy Color: Street Fighter Alpha
Sega Master System: Street Fighter II
TG-16/PC Engine: Street Fighter II': Championship Edition
TG-CD/PC-CD: Fighting Street (Street Fighter)

Most likely bootlegs

Game Gear: Jang Pung II (a.k.a. Street Blaster, clone of Street Fighter II)

NES/Famicom:
Street Fighter IV [Pirate]
Street Fighter: 2010

Toaplan and a random Gleylancer.

Arcade
Out Zone - 17

I got this PCB in the mail this week and have confirmed that it is (probably) identical to Dash Yarou, which I played a while ago. It even changes to Dash Yarou when you put the region setting DIPs in the Japan position.
Slap Fight - 108
Tatsujin - 15

G/MD
Gleylancer - 30
Hellfire - 22
Same! Same! Same! - 55

Here are my times for this week (November 7th through 13th, 2022) on classic systems:

Arcade:

Scrambled Egg - 3 min.

Side Trak - 2 min.

Sinistar - 15 min.

Tetris (Sega) - 4 min.

Track & Field - 2 min.

Up'n down - 1 min.

Wonder Boy in Monster Land - 7 min.

Wonder Boy - 5 min.

Wonder Boy (prototype?) - 4 min.

Yosaku To Donbei - 3 min.

This week I completed my MAME compatibility check trying out which romsets I have still work with the current version of MAME (well, current as of when I installed it back in summer of 2021)... it seems that it's mostly older and simple games that are still working, while newer and more complex games tend to have had their romsets changed, which include TX-1, Taxi driver, Tapper, Super Qix and Space Duel. But all in all, more than half of the games still work. On most of these games I only played a single game, except for Sinistar where I kept playing until I managed to destroy the Sinistar once, and maybe Side Trak (not sure here). Some games I've played extensively before so that's why I'm better at them.

Times for the week:

Atari 2600

Eggomania 43

Fishing for HSC 22

Freeway for HSC 33

Sky Jinks for HSC 15

Solar Fox 80

This week I played Fishing Derby and Sky Jinks for the first time. Both good but I really enjoyed Fishing Derby a lot. Playing games for the first time and finding a

really good one is what’s makes the HSC fun.

This week I played:

Championship Pro-Am for Genesis - 64 minutes

Donkey Kong 64 for Nintendo 64 - 865 minutes

Final Fantasy III (actually VI) for Super Nintendo - 194 minutes

Low G Man for NES - 51 minutes

Suikoden for Playstation - 1,332 minutes

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for Nintendo 64 - 80 minutes

X-Men for Genesis - 160 minutes

X-Men for Game Gear - 70 minutes

Progress:

Championship Pro-Am - I could never get as far in this version as the NES version (probably because of the two extra opponents) so I used quite a bit of save states to see what happened after getting through the 24th track.

Donkey Kong 64 - completed the game from start to finish, getting everything

Final Fantasy III (FF6) - started a new file and made it partway through the third of the three split scenarios.

Low G Man - played through the first quest

Suikoden - completed the game with all 108 characters from start to finish

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - completed the game with all tapes and gold medals as Tony Hawk

X-Men for Genesis - completed amateur mode, then in Hero mode I made it to the part where you have to reset the game but I found out I couldn't do a soft reset in this emulator. I played through Hero mode in a different emulator, soft reset it when needed to and completed it.

X-Men for Game Gear - completed the whole game using Wolverine.

Atari 2600

Barnstorming - 373 minutes

Freeway - 10 minutes

Kaboom! - 27 minutes

Sky Jinks - 12 minutes

Solar Fox - 94 minutes

Time sort of flew by playing Barnstorming.  I still didn't get a flawless run.  My best time so far is 1:11.97 which I still haven't posted in the HSC because I am trying to do better.

I hit a bird one time when I got that time.

Intellivision

Beamrider 143

Sub Hunt 324

Intellivision HSC times above.  I am one point out of 3rd place, and the only game remaining is Beamrider.  I currently have the top Beamrider score and a personal best of 108k, but the last round has a "buddy system" element which means the user I'm fighting for 3rd place could finish ahead of me in the overall standings even if I beat him head to head.  Competition ends Thanksgiving Day - exciting!

Regarding Sub Hunt - I had never played it before, and I mostly just confused it with Sea Battle in the past, but it is a nice little single player action simulation.  The Intellivision was ahead of its time in combining action and simulation, and this game does a really nice job of that. It uses the keypad fairly well although some commands could have been streamlined a little.  I managed to beat the game on the hardest difficulty and another user in the competition managed to get a "perfect" score.  Even though I was only a few sunken ships behind him, I couldn't push myself for another perfect score - it would have taken too much stress and yelling ;)

Sub Hunt Level 5 "All Clear" with 4 subs remaining

I love C-So. It’s an odd one but it starts to make sense.

It looked interesting and played pretty well control wise.  But, I couldn't exactly find out what to do when it looked like I had gathered up all of the items.  Still, I am very much enjoying my exploration of the MSX and/or MSX2 library.  However, from the other day, I did really enjoy Car Jamboree and will say that 10 Yard Fight on the NES might just be the best football game apart from Tecmo Bowl and Super Tecmo Bowl as I really enjoyed my time with it.

We also had a power outage last week on Wednesday night. I should add estimated times of what I played on my backlit Game Boy based on how long it took youtube longplayers to get as far as I did. Their times should equal what mine would have been at minimum:

Batman for Game Boy - 20 minutes

(made it to level 4-2)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the Foot Clan for Game Boy - 26 minutes

(completed the game)
