Thanks

Just want to give a big THANK YOU to anyone who has commented on my blog. I cannot stress how much it means to me sometimes. I'd also like to thank those who decided to send some cash in response to my previous blog entry. I will make sure to put that to good use as much as I can. I've decided that I'll try saving money again and combine what I save with my tax return next year. I have a goal of obtaining a better working vehicle so that hopefully, I will not have car troubles as often.Again, th

Car Troubles Part 2

Well, it happened. I was driving home from NY state yesterday because I decided to take a short ride. Noticed that my car was making clunking noises but I dismissed it as just the way I drive. As I got into town towards my parents house, the car just suddenly gave way. I pulled it over and tried to put it in park but nothing happened. Couldn't drive it either. The car started up but would not go into gear. So, I ran up the hill to find my mother and we went and got my father. Called AAA and they

Whole Grains

How to lose weight? I get asked that often by people nowadays and to be quite honest, it's not an easy task and there is no magic bullet that will cause instant weight loss. It just doesn't work that way. However, I will list a few things that worked for me with each blog post. That way, it may someday help someone else with their weight loss. Let's start it off with Whole Grains.1. Whole grainsThe new food pyramid stresses the importance of whole grains. It didn't always recommend whole grains

Epiphany

You know folks, I haven't totally been appreciative of life lately. Though I'm not religious, I feel that one of the deities has granted me this life. My second chance in life and I need to make the best of it. It may have taken a few rounds of drinks to realize, but I need to stop being a dickhead in life. I need to stop trashing others and grow up. Without sounding crazy here, "he" says that I need to stop being so damn bitter and enjoy life for once. I've made it this far. Compared to last ye

Don't rain on my parade!

Do you ever have times when you wonder if you will ever be able to go through life without being called a "fat ass"? Don't you just hate it when people who are fat, call YOU a fat ass? Why can't they look in the mirror? It just makes me wonder. Blah. I keep trying to get my weight down and keep running into plateaus. I think I'm becoming a bit too obsessed with it. However, I have relaxed my diet a bit too much the past few weeks and I'd like to ease back into it slowly. EVen if it means cuttin

Liberals:The new bogeymen?

Have you ever noticed lately that it seems as if a certain category of people on the political spectrum, are being singled out for all of the nation's problems? While it is true that both the Liberal and Conservative ends blame each other constantly, doesn't it still irk you to see false accusations fly back and forth?I find it annoying when liberals are blamed for almost everything that conservatives do. I am annoyed when conservatives are blamed too, but not as much as I am now. It seems as if

Update

I just finished cleaning up my bedroom and it looks so much better now. It reminds me of my old bedroom at my parents house, mainly due to the posters and other things on the wall. I want the room to be sort of a showcase of who I am and it reflects my various interests.I also set up my old 500MB Compaq Presario computer on a network along with my 2.8gig Dell. It may not be a big deal to most people, but I think it's neat to have 2 working computers on a mini-network so if I were to have my brot

Politics in the workplace

Without going too much into detail, I'd like to talk about workplace politics and how they can sometimes destroy bonds between workers and create chaos among management. Let's just say that we have 2 workers, Worker A and Worker B. Worker A has tried for months to negotiate a raise because they feel they are not being paid well enough for the type of work they do. Worker B is extremely loyal to Worker A and they both give notice at the same time. So, the company says that they can give Worker B

It's all about control

I've never been at a point in my life where I've felt great control of myself. I have more control over my eating habits. I have more control over what I drink. It feels great to know that I can control anything because one year ago, I had absolutely no control over anything. My drinking spiraled out of control last year and so did my eating habits. What you have to remember folks, is that it's all about control. As long as you can somehow control what you do, you will have success. But, should

Postal 2:Apocalypse Weekend

Talk about a crazy ass game. Not sure if you've heard of Postal 2, but it's quite an infamous game. You are Postal dude and your job is to make it through a small town called Paradise without ending up in a body bag. You have several enemies, such as an animal rights group, terrorists, the military and bloodthirsty zombies. You must hack, slash and shoot your way to the ultimate end: To get your trailer home back and get the hell out of Paradise.Apocalypse Weekend is an expansion pack so you wi

There's no sin greater than A/C

Ahhh. I finally put in my air conditioner yesterday and it works great as usual. It's just begun to warm up in this area, with the temperature hitting 85 yesterday and it's supposed to hit a high of 82 today. Still warm enough to put on the A/C, since I live on a third floor and the heat rises up. Fun.I went to a car show yesterday and hung out with some old friends. It wasn't too shabby but the coolest part was the tire burnout. Honestly, I don't understand why it's such a big deal but all I ha

Don't Panic

It seems like things are gonna get better very soon. :DI'm losing more weight and getting out more in regards to exercise. Starting to get concerned about the lack of a doctor and my calcium intake. Hmm.From what I've learned, just relax and ride wherever things take ya.

Sometimes, life ain't all that bad

Found out today that one of the co-workers has decided to stay so we're only losing the other one. Also, my boss told me that they will be having what's called Leadership training at work soon and he told me to go for it. He said that the purpose of this training is to determine the skills of people in the company so that it might lead them to better jobs within the company. He says that I'd be a lock-in for this training because of my computer skills and such. I'm hoping to do this training whe

It's all falling apart at work...

Just learned that two more of my co-workers have given their two weeks notice, which will leave us with only 3 people once they leave unless we hire 4 maintenance workers. I'm so pissed off now, it's not funny. Just found out that this has been going on for years. People have come and go many times in the maintenance department where I work and the funny thing is, it's been the very same head boss that for the past few years, has always refused to give more money to keep people at the company.

How does one lose weight?

I often get people who ask me just how I lost as much weight I lost. It's definitely not an easy question to answer and frankly, I get annoyed by it. However, I'll try and explain a few key approaches that I have taken:1. Whole Grains and FiberYou should eat more whole grains in your diet. If you like eating cereal, switch to a whole grain cereal. If you like sandwiches, switch to a whole wheat bread instead of white bread. Hell, you can buy pasta that's whole wheat and pizza on a whole wheat cr

Changing throughout the times

So, my appearance keeps changing. However, I never seem to be able to get good photos of this transformation so I'm attaching a small album of what I have so far. The changes are more dramatic as I can feel more bone than fat in some areas. Need to work at upping the calcium intake and caloric intake just for safety's sake. Other than that, it's looking good so far.

Pow-Wow

Today was the annual tribal pow wow and I decided to drop by as I usually do. Since we are trying for statewide recognization this year, it seems as if things are starting to look up. The general mood among fellow Abenakis has improved. It seems as if the tides are turning in our favor so I'm hoping it goes through without a hitch. About time the folks in this state realized just how long we Abenaki have been screwed over by the state. It's been too long.

Need a 2600 fix...

I sent out another 2600 to be A/V modded by keilbaca and I'm anxiously awaiting it in the mail. I guess playing the 2600 that I got for my brother just reinvigorated my interest in actually PLAYING the games, as opposed to just COLLECTING them. ;)Speaking of which, my brother is happy with his 2600. He will be getting some more games courtesy of McGrail, who offered to give some games for free. I don't know why I bought that 2600 for my brother, but I'm hoping he will make good on his promise to

Stop cutting down the woods!

One thing that irks me the most, is how people are constantly chopping down woodland here in Vermont to build luxury homes. I saw in the paper today that they are dividing up a plot of land called Shelburne Point. It is almost like an island, and has lots of lush wilderness and beautiful views. It also has multi-million dollar homes and now they want to build more. Why can't they just leave the land alone and find an empty field that's no longer being used for agriculture? I don't care for loo

The GTA effect Part 2

I've explored some of the reasons for why people play GTA games and I feel it's time to look at how GTA has made an impact on popular culture and videogaming culture. If you'll notice, more and more games are coming out with non-linear storylines. Basically, a non-linear path means that there is no set path that must be followed in order to complete a game. There are usually branching paths that eventually meet up at the end of the game. Games like Need for Speed:Underground are a perfect exampl

Wild weekend

Fuck, I am tired. My high school homecoming weekend is over. I went down there on Friday and checked into my hotel room. Did some shopping around downtown and stopped by my old school just to hunt for old faces to talk to. The actual homecoming was yesterday. Anyway, it wasn't bad at all. I do enjoy seeing old faces but to be honest, it's getting old. It's just not fun like it used to be or worth the expense to do so. There used to be a lot more old faces that went but it's been getting smaller e

Video relay for the Deaf

Video relay for the Deaf? What's that? I asked myself the same question and talked to a friend of mine and they showed me. Told me that it didn't cost a penny so I decided to investigate. Emailed a friend of mine who installs video relay and they agreed to come by today to hook it up for me.Basically, it's a webcam that hooks up to an internet modem and uses a router and basically, people can "call" you using your ip address (or a host name) and talk with you using the webcam. You can also call

The GTA effect Part 1

This is part 1 of a two part look at how the GTA series has influenced video games in general. Here, I'll talk about NARC, which is probably an example of how GTA has influenced games negatively:You know, I never realized this until now, but I've owned/played plenty of modern games that are nothing but duds in my opinion. The majority of these games have been on the PS2. I could make a list, but it wouldn't make sense since what I feel is a dud, could be a gem to someone else. However, I will st

Blah. I hate sudden changes

Just found out today that two of my co-workers have given their two weeks notice. I'm still pretty shocked as I really think they're cool folks. You know, I'm just sick and tired of all these sudden changes. I'm sick of seeing people up and move, up and move and all this crap. Why can't things stay the same for a few months? Why do they have to change so sudden, so often? Why do I spend so much time getting to know people and 6 months later, they're gone? It irritates me to no end. It pisses me

Things are working out good

Well I'm pretty psyched about the following week. I'm going back to my old schedule of 6am-2:30pm, which I liked very much as it allowed me more time after work to do fun things. This will help a lot once I have set up an exercise routine as I'll have more time to exercise. I'm looking forward to it.My weight is now 230lbs and it fluctates up to 235lbs sometimes but as long as I'm getting 3 meals a day and 2 snacks whenever possible, along with the way I push myself physically at work, it will l
