A grey cx40 joystick for... wait for it..... 180 euro (£156)!!!!!! 😬🤔😉

maybe it's overexposed with the flash photography but something doesn't look right with that one compared to the one I have on my shelf.
Mine is available for €170  😁

Only the button and pressing the right direction work. The rest of the joystick need's to be fix. This version of the controller is hard to find so I'm taking a chance that I can fix it."

Man, I hate when things need to be fix...

Should not be to bad, I have 3, but only one with the ATARI Tab. 1 works 100% the other 2 have issues.

Cardboard box = free from local supermarket

Cost of making a stencil from cardboard = free

Black spay can =£3

Time =1hr, plus the time it takes to rough it up a bit, (gotta make it look old Heh Heh!) 😉😁

Voilà, £75  for a 'genuine' vintage Atari box!!

An 800 for £649 plus £35 postage. Bad enough you think, then you find out the game carts shown in the listing running on the machine aren't included!!!

If you look at the seller's other machine listings they are selling other 8 bit computers for stupid amounts of money. A Commodore 128 for shy of £600!!!

Quite reasonable compared to their earlier attempt to sell this box, they were asking £150 in September.

This, if you can spay them for 3 Pounds then they can't reproduce.

If he actually has all that stuff shown in the pictures and they are all original and in working condition...there are some holy grail machines there... Then that may actually be worth the money to someone.  Not me, but someone.

Edited to add, oh hey Brian.  I just sent you a message...speaking of holy grail machines.

Less remarkable as they actually sold calculators before entering the computer business. I have one of their 4-bangers with a red LED display from a lot but it’s not very remarkable.

I may have mentioned this before, but there are several sellers on Ebay in the US and UK, Europe, who do this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/335210447788?

Atari 800 XL XE -- SD card for the SIO2SD disk drive emulator also SIO2PC ROMs

Atari 800 XL XE -- SD card for the SIO2SD disk drive emulator also SIO2PC ROMs - Picture 1 of 6

Essentially all they do take a dirt cheap and easily sourced (often crappy), Sdcard, then save free/easily obtainable public domain softwares for said devices to the card. They then sell these for various devices (such as SIO2SD or Sdrive max), for what is IMHO an extortionate amount of money!! Worse - postage costs on top! 😜

You can buy Sio2SD units over here in the UK for £25. These sellers are selling these cheap cards and free software for pretty much the same amount again.

I once contacted one of these sellers asking why they charged so much for what is free software on a very low cost medium. They came back saying it was there time spent doing it, and because some people don't know how to find such things, so as such they are providing a service.

I think as these are devices for retro machines, where most people are savvy enough to be able to source these things in the first place, I am not convinced with this argument.

Still, people are buying these, so whadda I know! ;)
