        Yeah. If you go by percentage of won games and exclude caretaker Michael Carrick who sat there for three games, the top list goes like this:
        Alex Ferguson: 59.67% (1500 games, 1986-2013)
        José Mourinho: 58.33% (144 games, 2016-2018)
        Erik ten Hag: 57.88% (114 games, 2022-2024 ?)
        Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 54.17% (168 games, 2018-2021)

        It's not confirmed yet. I think they should give him another year. The problems at United aren't going to be fixed overnight and the problem with changing managers every couple of years is that, unless you have a squad that should be fighting for the title, you're going to get additional changes in personnel which then takes time to gel. But there does seem to be a problem somewhere if so many players were out of action for so long. They need to look at the training regime. And looking at those stats, given where United were when he came in, they're likely better than Fergie's after the same number of games. People forget that it took him 6 years to win the title and it was an FA Cup victory that saved him.

    • What do you mean by "inverse" key? The key that inverts (shifts) the screen? It is the joystick fire. Note that shifting is disabled in the first two levels as well as the secret level.
    • I'm working on a project that might do 4-way scrolling.  I'm doing it the dumbest way possible, by drawing a tons of sprites tiles DLLs, one for each tile on screen.   I can fit around 40ish 32 wide x 16 tall tiles, plus blackout boundaries, and squeak by using PLOTSPRITE4.  Unfortunatey, I have an odd behavior where it seems to misalign the graphic from the block.   The black squares and blocks of brown and yellow should be other numbers, but instead are draw in farther places on the graphics block. Typically I add in one sprite that's the size I want with incgraphic, then an "atlas" of the rest that size, so I can call them using the frame parameter of plotsprite/PLOTSPRITE4:   incgraphic gfx/atlas_firstSprite.png 0 1 2 3 ;i.e. the 32x16 pixel tile "0" incgraphic gfx/atlas_sprites.png 0 1 2 3 ; the rest in a 244x16 png.   it's worked great for many games, and seems to work pretty well, at least at first, using PLOTSPRITE4.  Above 4 or so, it won't draw 5, 6 or 7 but seem to take pixels from later on in the graphics block (I'm trying to figure out if there's a systme to the error in pixels...)   I will say that the normal plotsprite seems to draw them as expected (although slower, of course), but when switching to PLOTSPRITE4 the upper end of the tiles (anything above "4") gets shifted over a few columns.   pseudocode is basically this: for x = 0 to 5 for y = 0 to 8 tile = (calculate tile using a function) ;(multiply x and y values based on scrolling and tile size of 32x16 pixels) PLOTSPRITE4 x y tile next next     As you can see, the tiles/sprites are not tallsprites (but should be fine being 32 pixels wide, I believe).  Palettes being their power of 2 seem to work OK, but I rolled that back to make sure that wasn't the issue. One test I did had the far right side not drawn properly, but that doesn't seem to fit into this case, which seems to draw everything, just using the wrong graphics above a certain index.   The index *doesn't* seem to be related to the byte limit imposed by PLOTSPRITE4 - I don't think the byte limit/numbers match up, and besides, I *think* I'm just drawing 32x16 sprites as far as the chip is concerned.   Any other limitations of quirks for PLOTSPRITE4 that I'm forgetting?     Thanks for any help in advance!

    • That's absolutely correct, and my assumptions are the same regarding CPU/ANTIC access contention. Candle suggested this the other day, but although I pre-map cluster numbers in the PDM player, I'd like to try and avoid a potentially lengthy delay at the start of playback while the entire FAT chain is mapped (and any futher delays during playback if extra mapping is required). Of course, if my plan doesn't work, that would be the fallback approach. At least every cluster link read (using DMA) only takes 512 cycles plus the setup and data-ready overhead, and if the code filling the buffer doesn't have to run synchronously with the player pulling data out of the other end, it might keep up. Once 16K and bigger clusters are working, it would be a toss-up whether 8K or 4K would work with asynchronous buffering, but we could try it and see. That's encouraging, since interleaving reads with a display kernel is obviously challenging and inflexible. It would also be nice to avoid cycle counting to ensure compatibility with accelerators (since the player code will be in main RAM, one SRAM window being mapped to the video frame buffer and the other to the FAT buffer since that's also filled by DMA).   No doubt it will seem like a dumb question once you've answered it, but is there any specific advantage to running the display off IRQs instead of NMIs? I'd be interested to see the MOD player (I will take any good reference examples I can get).

    • Trying to play this in Altirra emulator, where inverse key is mapped to either the PC's "end" key or the " ' "  key, (according to Altirra's help FAQ), but neither seems to work. Any ideas?
    • @GoldLeader, Thank you for nominating Midnight Magic!  Let's talk about it using our criteria.     This game sold half a million copies and sits at #53 in the VG Chartz Top 100 Best Sellers (for what that's worth.  It's the best sales data we've got right now.)  Also, this game was featured in "The Fun is Back" Atari TV commercials in around 1986-1988.  So according to our criteria, this game is well-known.  Further, the Video Game Critic Readers voted this game a B+.  So, this game is well-known and highly rated.  It's neither a Hidden Gem (it's well-known) nor underrated (it's rated very highly).  So how to categorize this game?     Update: Midnight Magic moves into a new category I created called WELL-KNOWN AND HIGHLY RATED.
