    • Wow, can't I remember clearly... It was a long time ago!   My best friend Dave had an older brother that got a TI99/4A and cassette cable.  Eventually he had extended basic.  They had a great yard and that is where are group of friends hung out. Playing baseball / football / basketball etc.  But on rainy days... I would want to use the TI.  His brother was/is a talented programmer.  I used to watch write programs and was fascinated,   I talked my parents into getting me one when the price dropped to $150.  Eventually I talked David's brother into selling me XB as he had stopped using the TI.   I had the cassette cable and the joystick adapter as I had 2600 joysticks already...   I learned a lot on that machine.  This had to still be 1982. In 83 another of my friends got a TI and it had the V2.2? or whatever that stopped some games from working.  So I got a game or 2 cheap from him. By the end of 83 I had a pretty good collection of TI games and Voice Synth.  Lots of closeout games < $5 each.   84 I started High school and used TRS-80 Model III and IV machines. In 85 I was in the advanced computer class and we used DEC PDP11/23 This was incredibly close to TI Basic.  By the end of 85 Dad came home with a C=64 and the TI was history for MANY years.   I found a Mini-Memory cart for $10 at a flee market and dug the TI out for a little while, but that didn't last long.   1996 I moved to Wisconsin for work and was a little home sick and started getting retro vibes...  I found the Intellivision Lives website and started thinking back to 80, 81 etc.   I eventually found V9T9 and started playing with the TI again (EMU)   I found AA around 2003 and lurked for a bit, eventually joining.  Used a few other TI emulators and landed on CLASSIC99  Since then, I have been working on bad games pretty consistently.  I have taken breaks...  Up to a year.  But it is always within reach.   I have 2 games really close to done and 3 others in various stages...  I have been crazy busy at work, but it is time to finish these games!   I love how easy it is to put a demo or proof of concept together on the TI99.  FINISHING games... that is were I struggle. LOL
    • one still wishes a supermap module existed to allow old software that used the system to continue on, but having updated versions of software that don't need them is a great thing indeed. I am glad you are finding they made a way to not need them in a way you can use.   I often wished supermap data could be used to repair disks or hard drive issues when the standard filemap gets damaged/corrupted.
    • Haha... I think they meant buying for the price that PD disks cost -- which was something like a dollar or so, BITD. I know that's how I got my copy of TBXL... and yes, I did forget Atari BASIC after that.
    • Sokoban is the basis for Fox’s Quest, on sale this Friday from BBWW and Intellivision Collector.
    • That is not the original demo, it has been modified, is it attempting to address existing hardware upgrade in that address space? Maybe a sound card etc?
    • You may want to have a look at this routine Stephen. It's an all assembly routine (not designed as BASIC ML Sub). The source file can be viewed easily in Memo Pad (using the Import function). The included program RapidTexter gives you an example of its use, with a PMG block cursor.   Mouse Routine (Assembly).zip
    • There's been a bit of a run on these lately, so thought I would give this a bump for the first time in almost a year, even though folks are clearly coming across the listing buried several pages deep!
    • Only remains 3 packages of the four game set!
    • Finally have time to follow up on this.t   It appears that when the new routines for random-access "point" operations were written sometime after SDX 4.2, the existence of "super" maps was ignored. Thus, if a "super" map is created for a file it is ignored by the system, and its sector(s) not deallocated when the file is deleted. (They were also not deallocated under 4.2, as they were never fully implemented or properly documented.   However, the new routines seem to have solved the problem of "point"ing to a location deep within a large file requiring the chain of sector maps to be scanned from the beginning (which is what the super maps were meant to fix) so they aren't needed any longer.   So, mystery solved.
