More Game Gear!

With the purchase of my Game Gear yesterday, I have been loving it even more than when I had that other one. Remember that N64 e-zine I was going to start? Well, it's now a Game Gear one. Issue one is completed, I just have to wait until January 1 to release it (It's the January 2010 one). And remember when I said it might snow? It didn't. They say it's going to tonight, but it probably won't again. But that's OK, since I have a Game Gear! And I don't even have to worry about running out of batt

Good News and Bad News

First, the bad news, which isn't really all that bad, but anyway, at Best Buy I saw a Lone Ranger DVD set that comes in a lunchbox (under $15, so nice). So I bought it for my '50s TV DVD collection. Only problem is, the stupid company who put out the DVD put a watermark bug in the lower right hand corner for a minute or so twice an episode! Apparently they wanted to make well sure that you had bought a PLATINUM HOME VIDEO! Which is stupid because Platinum home video didn't even release it! Acco

The Legend of Helga: Day 2

Well, after wrestling with the code for a few hours, I finally (with help) got the title screen to toggle between two choices: New Game and Load Game. The guys on Planet virtual Boy say that coding progress saves is easy, so I'm going ahead with my project here, even though it can only be played with an emulator (i don't know if you can burn it onto a cart with a battery, like Virtual Boy Wario Land. I wonder if you can erase battery data on Virtual Boy cartridges and make your own.) I need to w

My new Virtual Boy project

Well, now that GoSub for VB is over, I thought I'd make another Virtual Boy game. Something that the Virtual Boy hasn't seen before: A Zelda-like game. And so here's the gist of it: "Pink must scour Hellorule to get the four pieces of the Quadriforce to bring back to Princess Helga so she can get rid of her awful toenail fungus." And who is guarding the pieces of the Quadriforce? Why Orginflatz's minions of course. After you get all four pieces, you must face Orginflatz (by the way, is the King

Power outage

At about 10 last night the power went out. It's not a good thing when a.) You're awake at 10pm and b.) it's below freezing outside. So we called in the power outage with the cell phone and I played my Virtual Boy in the dark for about a half-hour when I grew tired of it, so I decided to go to sleep. Good thing, too, because it was about 2am when the power came back on. I would have had to stay awake for 4 hours! I was wrapped in blankets and not thinking I would fall asleep, fell asleep on the c

sNOw

I stayed up until 4 am last night waiting for it to snow. It never did. I was tracking the Weather Channel's Weatherscan, watching various patches of snow clouds missing us. And now, it's supposed to be sunny and cold. The high isn't supposed to be above freezing for a few days, while the lows are going to dip into the teens. I feel sorry for poor mom, when she goes to work in the morning it's supposed to be 20! Well, after I went to bed at 4am I woke up at 2pm, getting in my daily 10 hrs. of sl

In a Pig's Eye

So I got this 2disc album, a bootleg of Pink Floyd called "In A Pig's Eye". On disc 2, it has Shine On You Crazy Diamond parts I-V on one track and parts VI-X on another. So what I did is blended them together with Audacity, creating one 33-minute long track of Shine On You Crazy Diamond. That is what I'm listening to right now. I have never heard that particular song before, and it's quite good, just like all the rest of Pink Floyd's works, but my favorite is still the song Atom Heart Mother. T

DS Games

Well, after a long time searching for it used I finally found Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble for my collection. I also got Chameleon, which I've never seen anywhere before. So hopefully these are kind of rare and will make good additions to my DS collection, which is now up to 139. And there's also a chance of snow this weekend, so I need to stay up all night to see it. I love snow, it's so beautiful.

#297 - Double Dragon

It finally came. I guess the US Postal Service really is suffering if it takes 3 weeks for a package to arrive from Canada. And I'm mulling over being a subscriber. If I do, I'd probably wait until January 1 so I can renew it every year on the first of the year. And it's supposed to be cold this weekend with highs near freezing! Brr!

Oregon sports bet

With the Oregon football civil war coming up, I made a bet with Mom. Mom's not really a betting person, but I just bet her $5 that the Blazers will not win another game this season. And if there's one team I can count on for losing, it's New Jersey Portland. So, with losses the rest of the season guaranteed for Blazers fans, I smell a #1 draft pick in the Blazers' future. This means they'd have to have a 65-game losing streak. Only 62 more games to go!

More 5th Generation fun

So, I was going to go to Best Buy to get a DVD-VCR combo, when my mom said that i should probably wait and see if it goes on sale first and if it doesn't, then buy it. So instead, we went to the used video game store (called Game Crazy, but it's not the national chain, it's a local outfit with two locations: S. Salem and Lancaster. There used to be a Keizer one, but it sadly closed.) Well, anyway, I ended up reigniting my N64 love and bought Space Invaders. I also have planned ahead and I want t

Going To Saturn

Huzzah! I can play my Saturn again! I finally got around to getting the proper cords needed and now I can finally play that game I got from the Goat Store that came because they didn't have a game that I wanted so I had to order another one (how's that for a run-on sentence?) It makes me want more Saturn games, but I'm going to wait until next year because I've been spending too much lately on Game Gear games. Back when it was new, all I had was Nintendo (SNES, N64). Now that I'm older and they'

MIDI fun

Seeing as how absolutely nobody has made a Ghosts (Nine Inch Nails) MIDI yet, I decided to try my hand on it. So here's a WIP of 1 Ghosts I which you can download here. I still need to work on some note changing and maybe some instrument changing but I think I have the basics down. I think it's not bad for a couple hour's worth of work, what do you think? Also, I've been getting into MIDIs a lot lately, I made one for the title screen for Zoop for Game Boy. I've been downloading some, too. There

No package

So I sent this AA member a payment on November 11. Here it is november 25 and I still haven't got the package. It shouldn't take 14 days for a package to go from the east coast of Canada to the west coast of America, could it? I'm beginning to think the guy hoodwinked me. And Mom is coming around. She has decided to euthanize our dog. Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, on Friday or Saturday, she'll try to take him in and let all the suffering end, which I think is a good idea. Let the poor dog end

Annoying dog

Followers of my blog may have read that my dog is sick. Now it's gotten worse. The poor thing can't walk any more. And mom refuses to put him out of his misery. It's not that I'd be happy that the dog would be dead, I'd be happy because he'd no longer be suffering. Mom can't realize that my dog needs to be euthanized. Right now he's laying in my room panting as I type this. Mom has been taking the dog to the vet a lot lately but the one thing that keeps angering me is that she comes home with th

Game Gear

I decided to get back into Game Gear games. Here's a list of what I have: Aladdin, Beavis & Butthead, Berenstain Bears, Ecco, Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, Poker Face Paul Blackjack, Solitaire and Gin (but not Poker), Ren & Stimpy, Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic Chaos and Super Columns. I'm a little tired of those games, so I just bought Sonic Triple Trouble and Dr. Robotnik. Hopefully they will come next week sometime. What did come in the mail today, though, was Snoopy & the Red Baron for the 2

GoSub for Virtual Boy update

After 8 months of off and on work, I am proud to announce that I am ready to release version 1.0 of GoSub for Virtual Boy. You can download the ROM for use on an emulator here. So what is my next Virtual Boy game? I'm not sure. I'd like to do something in the vein of Pitfall!, where a guy moves from screen to screen avoiding enemies and getting treasures, but I'm not sure whether I have the programming skills to make that or not. Well, anyway, enjoy!

Christmas lights: Day 1

Well, my hands froze, but day 1 is complete. We put some chasers on the fence and a lot in the bushes. It looks pretty good for just an hour's worth of work. Sure, there was the untangling of the lights, but we found the missing chasers! We didn't have them up last year because we had lost them. Like I said in my previous posts I want to have the best display in the whole neighborhood. We're thinking about getting one of those animatronic reindeer, seeing as how we live mostly with a bunch of se

My ramblings on the subscription idea

So they want to make me pay to continue using the site. 99% of my time on the internet is spent here, it looks like i'll have to fork over dough. Great. Just when the economy is bad, along comes a pay site that I need to use. That's not to say the site is great, it is, but it would be a major bummer if I have to spend money in order to use a website. I guess it shouldn't come as a total shock, as nothing is free anymore, so why not pay? I don't know, I am so disappointed that AA can't handle bei

Fun with Tetris

I've added a special little thing if you get 100 or more lines in 2600tris. It took &*^&*ing FIVE tries to get over 100 to see if it works. It does. If you want to try it, here's a link to the latest version (as of 11/18/09.) I'm getting a little sick of Tetris, though, after playing the NES and Game Boy versions for research/inspiration. But nevertheless, I will press on working on my 2600tris. A couple of people are downloading each version, and I want them to tell me what they think o

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

At first I thought the game was broken because it didn't play. Then I figured out that I had to get a Wii update. I don't know how it did it (it's not connected to the internet because I have no idea how to). I had to do it twice, though because when I finished it the first time i went to the Game channel and it said Wii Update again. I have never come across this before and am wondering why on earth they made it so you have to get updates to the system (the updates are free, so why bother?) Wel

2600tris

I changed the name of my game from "Tetris 2600" to "2600tris." I felt that naming it "Tetris 2600" would be infringing on the Tetris trademark. I went to the game store and saw a Super Scope 6 for the SNES for $40! Absolutely NO Atari stuff for the zillionth time. Looks as though someone bought the Lynx and Gates of Zendocon for $70. Then I went to Best Buy and got Space Invaders Extreme 2. It was only $20. It's too bad that stuff like "Where's Waldo?" and "Touchmaster 3" have to be $30. Why do

Would you buy "Tetris 2600"?

As some of you might know, I'm working on an Atari 2600 version of Tetris. I know it has been done before, but I decided to because A: You can't get Hozer/Ed's version any more, B: The turning in Tetris 26 is screwed up, and C: Mine has a 2-player version. So, PLEASE check out the version posted in post #100 in the Tetris topic and tell me what you think so far. The bB forum has been dead for a few days now (I think I saw a tumbleweed cruise by last time I was on it), so I'm posting it on my blo

This post brought to you by the letter G

I haven't been to the Garfield minus Garfield site lately. So I went. I made some of my own. I wonder if I could share them here. I got 2 new Garfield books. Haven't got the Garfield Minus Garfield book yet. I need to get the rest of the Garfield books I'm missing (42-43, 45-48). I also got the Galaga Christmas ornament. Garfield, Galaga, I wonder what else in my day will start with the letter G.

Sit-down comic

Well, how I draw my M-Sat comic is i take a 8.5x11 page and I draw six comics on it. Probably not how most single-panel cartoonists do it, but I like it that way. I usually draw them one at a time, keeping the paper in a safe place until I have six comics on it. Then I take the piece of paper with 6 comics on it, run it through the scanner, go into Paint and reduce the size by 75%. Then, I divide them into 6 seperate ones using Paint. If I'm doing my Sunday comic, then I reduce the size by 60% a
