My Saturn Collection

In case you can't read the titles:   Arcade's Greatest Hits Atari 1 Bug! Duke Nukem 3D Gex Grid Runner Hyper 3D Pinball Johnny Bazookatone Machine Head Mr. Bones Rayman Sonic 3D Blast Tomb Raider Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Virtua Cop Wipeout   NiGHTS is nowhere to be found around here. I think I'll go back next week and get a few more and then there won't be anything left except sports titles and stuff I don't want. Virtua Fighter Kids does look interesting, though.

Sports teams around me

Why do they all have to suck?   OSU Beavers (football) 0-1 : lost to Stanford   U of O Ducks (football) 1-0, but it's early in the season   Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (baseball) - will finish the year 1st out of their division (they have the tie-breaker if they lose tonight), but i predict they'll lose to Spokane in the playoffs. And, there's only 8 teams in the whole league.   Seattle Mariners - LOL   Portland Blazers - Went 41-41 last year and missed the playoffs. i predict that even the

My opinion on boxed homebrews

There haven't been that many, though. In fact the only ones i can think of are Alien Greed 2 and Thrus+. Don't get me wrong, i appreciate all the effort that go into making a box, but i don't really need a box to go along with a game. Maybe it's the fact that i have over 225 games without boxes sitting on a shelf in my room. Imagine having boxes for all those. I'd run out of room to put them! (my mom always said 'you don't have enough room for all your stuff' once we moved here. this time i thi

Alien Greed 2 on eBay

You want this? You can bid on it until September 3. Just be prepared to spend more than $45.99 for it! (the current bid as I'm writing this is $45.00) This is the boxed version. I don't know if having your game up on eBay is a good thing or a bad one. Maybe someone can chime in on the subject.   Anyway, I went to Best Buy this morning and got a copy of "Welcome Back My Friends..." by Emerson Lake and Palmer. It's their stuff in concert. Karn Evil 9 clocks in at a little under 35 minutes, thank

My games

First up: GoSub 2 will be published, just not by AtariAge. Neotokeo will be handling this, along with Alien Greed 3. Also, I'm pretty confident Terrance & Phillip will be done by the holiday season. Shawn Sr. will publish that one. So, to put it mildly, I've been quite busy. By the way, a new version (#44) is up in the bB forum.)

You Win Some, You Lose Some

I went to the store, and the bad news was someone bought the Virtual Boy and the Atari 2600 didn't want to work. The good news is I got Frogger 2 for $1 and Star Wars: Death Star Battle for $1 (They sell 2600 games for $1 no matter what the rarity, I guess. If I ever see a Crazy Climber there for $1, well, they just lost themselves a lot of money!) So, now I'm up to 227 2600 games. Slowly but surely, I will get to 300. I'd better reach the 300 mark by early next summer or i won't be a happy camp

The ending to Asses of Fire

Apparently people are really liking the T&P game! I put an interest check up and replies aplenty! Unfortunately, I don't really want to take orders quite yet. But anyway, here's the ending to Asses of Fire. I got bored, so I programmed it. All I have to do is merge the code into the game and there will be an ending. Note: After the background fades to black, the title screen will begin. For those of you who don't know, the music is the Canadian national anthem (T&P are Canadian.) Oh, and

I wish I was a computer geek

So, I'm trying to make a "hello world" Odyssey 2 program, and keep stumbling roadblock after roadblock with this "Macro Assembler AS" program. Why does everything of this nature have to be in nonsensical gibberish I can't understand? What is AUTOEXEC.BAT? Why does it all have to be in DOS? Why can't they make a Windows version for idiots like myself? I'd really love to make an Odyssey 2 program that all it does is display "Hello World" on the screen and I can't even do that! I wish there was a

HERO today...

I got HERO today in the mail, so I now have 225 Atari 2600 games which means I only have 75 more to go until I reach 300. Also, I'm working on GoSub for Oric Basic, for those of you who don't read the Homebrew Discussion forums. I doubt very many people even know what an Oric is. I'm from the United States and I've never even heard of it until I read the Minigame Compo back years archive 2 years ago. Well, I was looking through trying to find out how to program for it, and one of the sound effec

GoSub on the Odyssey 2?!

Just dreaming. But one day I hope to make it a reality. Of course, I'll have to change the name of it to GoSub!, because almost every single Odyssey 2 game has an exclamation point at the end. At the same place I was talking about yesterday, they had an Odyssey 2 game in the bargain bin (Baseball!) I was wondering what the heck O^2 games were like, so I downloaded the emulator. I still don't know how to work it, but I like KC Munchkin. Oh well, here's a mock-up of GoSub! on the Odyssey 2.

Duplicate systems

So i go to the game store and sitting there was an Atari 2600 with about 12 common games for about $60. I thought "Hmm. Maybe i should get that just in case my other one breaks knock on wood." But then I thought the $60 price tag was due to it coming with those games that i already have. But what impressed me even more was the virtual boy with 4 games for $120. That got me thinking a great deal. I think i will buy it if it's still there next week (i didn't have enough money for it this week.) My

rant time: Digital TV

I hate this stupid transition. I have cable, but it still affects me. I got this antenna which i use. I try to get Eugene stations which are 50 miles away. One day I got KVAL pretty clearly, but the rest of the time it's mainly static or a faint picture. But with digital TV, the days of messing with an antenna to see if I can get these Eugene stations will soon be gone, replaced with the fact that if I try to tune into a digital station from Eugene, I'll get the inevitable "no signal" message fr

DS Collection update

I now have 106 DS games. I got Space Invaders Extreme and Sonic Rush Adventure. I wanted to get The World Ends With You, but it was $40! What is a DS game doing costing that much?! (Not pictured: Yoshi's Island DS, which I loaned to my sister.)

GoSub 2

Can anyone test any of the recent binaries (especially version 10, the latest one) on real hardware? For convenience, I'll post it here, but if you'd like to see the .bas file, it's in the "GoSub 2" thread in the bB forum. I'd like to release this, but I don't know if I can, because there's no store to release it to. I hope to have it done by next month. I'd really like it to be done by Holidays '08 so people can get themselves a nice lil' X-mas present (it'd be $25 if it was in the store, but I

355*

I was bored, so i convinced my mom to play Scrabble with me even though I always win. Well, this time, I think I broke my record for most points. I beat her 355-231. Well, we cheat a little. What do we do? We trade letters sometimes if someone has lousy letters, and sometimes I help her if she's taking too long and can't think of anything. What put me over the top this time was a bingo (+50 points for using all my letters). Building off of THEM, I made YEARNED and THEME. Of course YEARNED was on

Art Imitates Life

So, probably none of you read my comic, but anyway, since my grandfather died (and the lengthy conversation about how some people thought i didn't miss him when in fact i do), i've decided to kill Jessica's grandfather off. This week's comic isn't really funny since it introduces the new story line. i mean, how can you make death funny? i tried when maybe i shouldn't have. it's too late now to change it since this sunday's comic is already up. Except for 8/31 and 9/7's comics which talks about s

Audacity

Thanks to this program, I can now make CDs of my own music. How, you may ask? I'll record myself playing the keyboard with my MP3 player which records sounds in WAV format. Then, I'll upload the songs to my computer and use Audacity to save them in MP3 format, which then once I'm finished with an album, can burn it onto a CD. I think it's free, but if it's only for a trial period, I'll buy a complete version of it. Just to see if I could, I put an old wav file i had on my computer. Looking aroun

it finally got to be 100 degrees a little after 5pm. the weather channel says 105 tomorrow. i want you guys to listen to my song, only problem is that it's 21 minutes long and the MP3 is 19MB. So I'm wondering whether I can upload a 19MB attachment to AtariAge, or if it's too big. It's one of the few things I've made back when the microphone port to my computer worked. I've been making music on tape for years now, but tomorrow, i'm going to bite the bullet and spend the money for a digital voic

hot

It's going to be hot tomorrow. The forecast is 99. That bugs me. why can't people just say 100? It's just one friggin degree hotter. c'mon. but Friday is supposed to be even hotter, anywhere between 102-104 (all the local stations disagree.) The Weather Channel says 96 on Friday, so i think they're crazy. there's an excessive heat watch for the next two days, and the ultraviolet rating is 8 for tomorrow. it was 88 today, so hopefully it will be at least 12 degrees hotter tomorrow. I mean, if it'

DS Collecting

Well, I went out and bought another one, bringing my total to 104. Well, it may be 103. I let my niece borrow Yoshi's Island DS. So far they haven't lost or broke it (my sister is playing it, too.) Everything is perfect except my Feel The Magic: XX/XY box has a tear. Some are even still factory sealed. Poor Professor Layton will have to be sealed (well, he doesn't *have* to be sealed, but I'm collecting all the "big" titles. Some yet to get but have to have titles are Apollo Justice, Sonic Rush

DS Games I Want...

...But aren't out yet. Kirby Super Star Ultra Paint by DS (should be fun and odd) Guinness Book of World Records (I wonder what kind of game this is) Quantum of Solace (I have Quickspot and want to get all the DS games that start with Q.) Matchstick Puzzle By DS (I'm interested in what kind of game this is) Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff Chrono Trigger DS Boulder Dash: Rocks! (Probably why the 2600 game can't be released) de Blob Grand Theft Auto   I'm back into DS collecting again. Here's what

Blog entry #700!

So what am I going to blog about for the big 700? Well, I got two 2600 games in the mail today (China Syndrome & Mountain King). I went to Game Crazy (a local one, not the national one) and got 4 Saturn games. I went to K-Mart and got Dream Pinball for the DS. So it's a big haul of games today. Mountain King is kind of an absurd game, but well-made. Now I have 224 Atari 2600 games and I want more. I don't think I'll ever stop. I want to be like Marco. Well, not *that* obsessive. New 2600 game using paddles

OK, all you paddle lovers, here's a game I'm working on. It's called Sewer Cleaner. Basically, your job is to collect the poop dripping from the top of the sewers into your bucket while dodging the alligator (which will eventually follow you, but right now he doesn't move or cause you to die). When I figure out how to read the paddle's fire button in bB, when you press it, the guy will jump so you can dodge the alligator. Comments and stuff encouraged and welcome.

Super Skweek

In Super Skweek, the object of each level is to pass over each blue square, making it pink. But it's too hard because there's too many enemies. The gift of being able to shoot the enemies doesn't really help much. It's games like this that make me wish that the Lynx had a Game Genie. Plus, the life counter isn't on the screen when you play (you have to press a button to make it appear.) Maybe if they got rid of the timer and replaced it with the # of lives remaining. What they should have done i

2600 Musical Medley

I'm working on a MIDI medley for the Video Game Music Archive. What I've posted is a WIP, so feel free to criticize, or suggest songs to add to it. Here's what I have so far: 0:00-1:43 - BMX AirMaster 1:43-2:12 - Pressure Cooker 2:12 - Pitfall 2   edit: Sorry, I hadn't uploaded anything. I wish this site would let you upload midis.
