Limes

I worked some more on that chrisword puzzle. I worked some more on a music composition I had begun about a year ago and never got around to finishing. And then my eye started to hurt. I took some chewable aspirin. It was disgusting even though cherry flavored. Then I barfed a whole bunch. Barfed up all I had eaten that day. Went to lay in bed and soon I felt another urge. So I went to the bathroom and barfed a whole lot more. Felt a little better, but I needed to go to sleep. Sleep is usually wh

It's more fun than a barrel of bananas.

I completely forgot about my banana joke book. It got hard to type because there's a point in my bone of my hand that hurts. And when I rest it on the hard desk, it emits a dull pain which makes it hard to type stuff. I have no idea how it happened, but it's been a couple of days now and it's really annoying. I thought for a bit and filled up page 8 (page ate?) Here are the jokes I thought up of today so far:   Why was the banana embarrassed? His pants had a split.   Wha

It's Amazing! (issue 1)

Last month I was on a Weekly World News kick. I enjoyed reading all of the stupid stories I could find. And I thought "I could do stuff like that!" So I decided to start. (By the way, names of publications are underlined, not in quotes. I learned that by watching Jeopardy!) So I made my own and it's now on the website for everyone to (hopefully) get a chuckle or two out of.   It's Amazing! is a lovely e-zine IMHO. Each 8-page issue (I'm only one guy) will have lovely news stories from

It's about the half-way point.

So I've decided to not work on Frank the Fruit Fly today. Why? I don't want to get angry on my birthday. I mean, how horrible would it be to get angry on your birthday? Also, it's not just any birthday. I'm geezerly. My hair is turning gray. It's horrible.   Right now, I figure I'm 50% done with my life. It just seems like the last 10 years zoomed by.   "One day you find, ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run You missed the starting gun"

Is it all crap?

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to attempt making homebrew games. Neither of my 2600 games got a nomination in the awards thing. I went back to working on Uncle Hairy's Nosehair, but I don't seem to want to care since nobody else seems to either. You know, just one piece of feedback, like something I could change or do differently, would help immensely. It's not fun sitting here coding for hours if nobody wants to reply to what I've been trying to make.   And then it dawned on me.

Interest fading

I'm beginning to have fading interest in programming video games. It seems like too much work. I love working on my stuff...if I love it. I don't like it if I have to force myself to work on something I don't want to do. So I don't. Something new has taken up my time lately: Music composition. I have found myself in the middle of making an album of sorts.   I like making music. It's something I've been doing ever since I was a young adult. I still have some of the first songs I made on

Insomnia.

I can't sleep. So I decided to look through my computer for stuff to do when I came across a comic book I drew 3 years ago of Stupidman. It was only legible because I replaced my horrible handwriting with text. I decided to put what I had on the internet to share with you all. In Issue 1 we had this stupid thing called Covid. So I drew a comic about an evil persistant little guy inspired by Mr. Mxyzptlk called Mr. Divoc.   So now I am going to attempt to sleep. But before I go to sleep

Idle hands are the devil's workshop.

I got bored. I decided to make a cartoon. Welcome to the realm of existence Edgar and bob. I recorded the audio for this and then realized my computer needed to have a stupid update. So I had to stop what I was doing and wait a half-hour for it to update. Why does it do that? WHY? I bought the stupid thing, I would like to have the opportunity to be able to USE IT whenever I want. But nooooo.   When that was done, I then got the opportunity to draw all the stuff used in the thing and p

Ice came but it won't go

I woke up and there was a little bit of snow. Or perhaps it's ice that looks like snow. It's about 20 degrees right now and they're saying it will only get to 26 today. I'm in a deep freeze here. And the ice keeps falling. and it won't stop. We have a ton of ice around here. I've never seen anything like this: it being 20 degrees at almost 9 a.m. Perhaps if the electricity goes out I'll go take a walk around my street and see how bad it is.   It's pretty likely the electricity will go

I'm making a book.

I've been making a book with rebus puzzles off and on (mostly off) for the past 2 1/2 years. The ultimate goal in all this is to create enough puzzles to fill a 36-page booklet with them and the answers. I have been doing a little research about what to call them. I ran across a page where they're called "Wuzzles" but that seems to be a registered trademark. Which is too bad because I was going to call my book "Attack of the Wuzzles." So I used google and it says they're traditionally called "Re

I'm leaving AtariAge.

Al sold his soul to the devil. That never is a good idea. Because of this, I have made the decision to leave the forums for good. I don't want to be posting in the forums of a zombie company, so I guess I'll be leaving now. I won't be gone for good, you can still catch me on the Video Game Sage forums. I am the user named "GameGearGuy," but I guess I should change my username there, so I may. Thanks for the 17 years (!) of fun, but I think it's time to move on to a more trusting forums since Al

I was an industrious kid.

So I was a kid. It all happens to us (well, except for babies.) And, as a kid, I made a whole bunch of stuff. Mostly magazines and comic books. As I grew older, I made more things, mainly video games and crossword puzzles. But I still have the urge to make magazines I had like I was a kid.   I found one of my old magazines I made when I was a kid. I probably made it in the doctor's office waiting to make sure my allergy shot didn't overreact like I did every week. Unfortunately it does

I ventured out.

Not in a car or anything. We heard a loud noise earlier so I went to go check it out. I saw nothing that would cause a loud noise to happen. Yesterday the snow on the ground was hard as rock. This morning I was actually able to walk around on it. It felt like walking on snow. I woke up at four a.m. and it was still below freezing outside. Here it is three hours later and it's 42 degrees. The thawing has begun. The sun is about to rise.   If it decides to rain, everything else to the en

I submitted my first font to dafont.com

And it took a lot of unneccessary work. It is a dingbats of the shapes of each state in the United States. I had to straighten each state's shape since it wasn't. Then since I wanted it equal kerning (space between letters), I had to pay $99 and download a new edition of Font Creator. Which is stupid and highway robbery if you ask me. But I suppose if I am going to be making fonts, I guess it's necessary.   I put each state in, using 50 of the 52 letters, with lowercase y and z not use

I may disappear for a week.

They're predicting an ice storm in my area. One station said we'd get about a half inch of ice on Friday/Saturday. Apparently snow may accompany it. The Weather Channel says 1-3 inches of snow. So I really don't know what's going to happen. We may be safe but I doubt it as apparently most of my state is under a winter storm watch during this time. Who knows? With a half-inch of ice, the power may go out and it would take a few days for us to get power back. Like what happened a couple of years a

I learned how to update my old website.

So I guess I wasted $120 setting up atari2600universe.com. Oh well. The problem was I wasn't using the new File Manager which just happened to show up overnight for me. I was using the old File Manager, which was way better. This new File Manager is a hunk of garbage. I guess I can't center images any more, which is really stupid.   They have this thing called HTML Editor which you can go in and type new stuff to a site, and by doing so, it wrecks the positioning of images and forces t

I give up yet again

I have to give up on another project. This time it's Frank the Fruit Fly. I can't get the health timer to work correctly. So I'm done. I've had it. Working on it any further will not be fruitful because my computer is being a stupid jerk.   My dog is dying. She won't eat very much. It's a slow and painful death apparently. If I ever get the chance to die, I'd like a fast death with very little suffering. Or a lot. I don't care. What is more suffering? Just as long as I get to die at th

I give up Odyssey 2 programming

Not only am I giving up this time, but I am giving up on all other times. The Odyssey 2 isn't cooperating with me, so I guess I'll give up making games for it ever again. It can't cooperate with me, so I guess I'll have to give up forever on Odyssey 2 game making because it doesn't want to work. And to make sure, I'm going to delete all the programs I use to make Odyssey 2 games. Stupid, but necessary. Because I hate life. Tomorrow I guess I'll go back to coding Frank the Fruit Fly. At

Hour Glass

So I was going through my computer and found something interesting. I had attempted a "revival" of the TV show called "Hour Glass." Why? I don't know. I first found it while looking through my gigantic book of the history of TV (over 1,700 pages!) I guess just for my own amusement to see if I could do it. I don't know if I should make it black and white or in color. I tried to make it in the style of early TV. But it's in color. But forget that for now, I still have to make 58 more min

Health update

Well, the good news is I don't have diabetes. The bad news is I have to get an ultrasound next week to see if I have fatty liver.   I swear, the lab techs had to poke me at least 5 times to get any blood out of me. And they had to get a lot out of me for my ultrasound next week apparently. It hurt quite a lot, but I guess I should be glad that ultrasounds don't hurt. Mom said it didn't hurt for hers (when she was pregnant with me).   I just wish they would leave me alone is a

He came in through the living room wall

sung to the tune of the Beatles' "She Came In through the Bathroom Window"   He came in through the living room wall destroying it brick by brick and he made such a big fat mess that I felt I was gonna be sick   Didn't anybody tell him not to break through a wall? Goodbye, Zoe

Just got back from having my dog put to sleep. Like I said in the pet death thread, it will feel real weird with no dog here, and I doubt we'll get another one. So now it's just mom, me, and the various insects flying around that are in this house now. I doubt I will be able to work much now without my dog for a few days while I get adjusted to a dogless life. I'm trying hard not to cry very much, but there's tears in my eyes and my stomach hurts. And of course they had to mow the lawns today wh

Font crazy.

I've been having a lot of fun making fonts with this thing. I made one called "Hip 2 Be²" I would have liked to call it "Squaresville" but that name was already taken by a dafont.com author. But I spent most of yesterday sleeping. I'm trying to turn my life around again so I'm awake at day and asleep at night. So that meant going to sleep after just waking up. I got up and took my pills because my leg was hurting from laying too much. Then I went back to bed and got up at 5 a.m. Hopef

eBay craziness / a question

So I went to eBay and clicked on Make Offer. This thing that never came up before told me I had to use my bank account for further Make Offers/Auctions. I clicked OK even though I didn't want to use my bank account and it said I could change it in settings. So I went to find settings on both PayPal and eBay and couldn't find it, although I did find a Payment settings on eBay. So I clicked on it. It said I am currently using my PayPal account for Make offers/auction. Plus what makes things weirde

Eating a raw potato

Hash browns. I like hash browns. So I thought I'd get some. That turned out to be a big mistake.   Another mistake was putting it in the freezer when it said "Keep refrigerated." After about 20 minutes of trying to thaw, I just put them in the microwave. I looked at the instructions. It said to fry in a skillet. I'm not gonna do that! So I got it hot and took it out and took a bite. It was terrible.   Not one to waste money, I kept eating. I added salt. It was like eating a r
